CIEE High School Summer Abroad in Italy

Best educational, personal, and immersive program I have experienced. I truly am grateful to have been a student in CIEE's Rome Language and Cultural Program. With Italian language instruction part of the day with different activities, lessons and Italian music and experiencing Roman culture by visiting museums, gardens, historic landmarks, and art, I enjoyed every single day of this program. The food was amazing, we had an activity to make our own pizza Napoletana and had the opportunity to eat lots to gelato, and see the famous Sistine Chapel, Pompeii, and the Colosseum! I remain in contact with my host family, the friends I met through the program, and continue to learn the Italian language and can familiarize with a variety of Italian culture.

Studying abroad with CIEE was the best thing I could’ve done for my confidence and personal growth as a young adult. I grew in so many ways that I didn’t know I could. I learned how to be independent and do things outside of my comfort zone. I learned how to push myself beyond my borders. I learned how to communicate efficiently with people outside of my own culture and language, I learned all about Rome and cultural differences and really learned to appreciate the people there. I also got to bond with my host family, and made lifelong friendships with students all over the U.S. I am so happy that I decided to push myself and study abroad because it allowed me to open my mind and have a rare and beautiful experience abroad! I am very thankful to CIEE for making it happen, for keeping us safe, and providing us with all of the resources to have an amazing study abroad.

I loved this experience it meant so much to me. It showed me a lot of things from the difference in culture to the difference in living styles. There was always something to do during the program and the amount of free time that we got was amazing. The assignments were prefect for your level and there was never a moment were I complained about anything regarding the bunch of activities we did every week or the trips we took. Everything was fun and exciting, I highly recommend it to young people who want new things to do or to just add to your resume or college application. One of the best experiences I have ever had, love it so much and I would definitely do it again if I could!!!

I loved the I experience i was provided by CIEE. I adore the host family I was assigned to, they were kind and very accommodating throughout my stay. The friends I made and the program leaders were some of the nicest people I’ve ever met and I was beyond happy with my time with the CIEE crew. Nobody got to choose housing, but somehow I ended up with the best family (in my opinion). Between morning gelato runs, golden afternoon shadows on cobblestone ruins, and night time events with my host family and friends, the Rome quickly transformed from a new destination into a second home. CIEE crafts a seamless balance of intriguing academics and effortless independence, giving you the structure to learn while granting the space to wander, create memories, and absorb the rhythm of Italian life. You return home with more than just credits (which was a fun bonus), you leave with dynamic perspective, lifelong connections, and a piece of your heart forever left in Rome.

My summer in Rome was one of the best summers I have ever had! I absolutely loved my time and I recommend it to everyone. The staff from CIEE were so fun and extremely supportive of everyone! I was really nervous about being younger or not making any friends at first but the second I got there I made so many friends who have changed my life. For anyone who is considering traveling with CIEE I highly recommend you do, not only did they make my summer amazing but they have changed my life for sure.

Studying abroad in Rome, Italy as a high schooler was one of the most rewarding experiences. I am now in college preparing for study abroad in Singapore! I learned so much about myself being abroad. I became more independent, confident and motivated to learning Italian. The environment was so supportive and welcoming. CIEE provided support and guidance through community emerging and bringing together students from across the U.S. CIEE prepared me! If I could go back, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I have never been one to be social or outgoing but, this trip brought the best out of me. I’ve never had so much fun in a new environment for a month all by myself! I saw new places like the Trevi fountain and I made tons of amazing new friends to see it with. Everyone was extremely nice, my host family was very friendly and caring, and overall Rome was very welcoming! The best spot to eat at is Pico’s, the best place for snacks is Pam Local, and my absolute favorite part of this trip was the friends I made along the way. 20/10 experience!

It was an amazing time and i learned so much from my professor. I saw so much new places and met some amazing friends that i now have for life. This was the best few weeks of my life and i wouldn’t change it for the world. i even learned some Italian and ordered gelato in Italian. I definitely recommend doing the program because it helped me learn new experiences and understand people more.
