About Program
The Mesophotic Zone Research Internship in Bali offers a rare opportunity to dive deeper into marine science—literally and academically. This cutting-edge program is the only one of its kind globally, where participants are trained in technical diving with RAID to safely reach depths of up to 50 meters in the ocean’s mesophotic zone.
Interns will learn advanced diving techniques and take part in pioneering survey work in one of the least-studied marine environments on Earth. At these depths, you’ll collect data on deep coral ecosystems, assess species diversity, and help build baseline knowledge that can inform global conservation efforts. Because mesophotic zone studies are so limited, your contributions will be part of truly groundbreaking research.
You’ll also gain skills in underwater data collection, scientific diving protocols, and reef monitoring methods adapted specifically for deep environments.
