About Program
VACorps offers valuable human rights internships in South Africa that provide real-world experience in this important field. Since the end of Apartheid in 1994, South Africa has undergone a remarkable transition to democracy and adopted one of the world's most progressive constitutions—one that firmly enshrines the protection of human rights. However, safeguarding these rights requires more than just constitutional guarantees or government oversight; it also depends on the work of independent institutions and civil society organizations. As a VACorps intern, you'll gain meaningful, hands-on experience within this dynamic human rights landscape.
Past interns have worked with a wide range of host organizations, including NGOs, NPOs, community legal clinics, refugee support centers, government departments, and even in Parliament.
