I just finished my Bangkok-based TEFL In-Class course.

If you’re looking to get your TEFL certification and work abroad, these are the guys you should be talking to. The Vantage team of instructors—Chris, Kevin, and Ryan are incredible trainers. I learned so much from them!

Chris was the lead trainer. His knowledge of English is impeccable. Chris’ lessons were never boring. They were interesting, straightforward, and always engaging. He has a way of making mundane subjects entertaining and enlightening with real-life examples that always piqued my interest. The time flew by as we were so happily immersed in becoming effective teachers.

This TEFL course is comprehensive. We learned how to formulate fail-proof lesson plans that made for successful classes. We taught various age groups. The feedback I got after each observed teaching practice helped boost my confidence, gave me invaluable experience, and developed the skillset I need to be successful in the classroom.
On the professional side, I was offered a job and secured a placement even before the course ended!

Kevin is Vantage’s Jobs Coach and he played a huge role in helping me find a job. His résumé creation and interview prep lessons were spot on—he really nailed what schools are looking for in applicants. I especially appreciated the marketing approach where I learned how to differentiate myself in the job market. Even after you finish the course, Vantage is still available to help you find a job.

I have been all in my career as an artist and filmmaker and I have extensive experience in the cinematic world. Yet I jumped at the opportunity to learn how to teach professionally when I learned who Vantage was and what they did.

For me, it was more than just getting certified. A lot of programs promised that. I want to be good as good in this new craft as I was at making films.

At Vantage, I learned how to teach a language throught the communicative teaching methodology. It’s highly effective because it helps students to speak and practice a new language. My students were highly engaged in all my classes. That, in turn, gave me real confidence in my new role as a teacher. Now I feel like I can teach anyone, anywhere.

The Vantage team of trainers, Chris and Kevin and Ryan are great instructors. All Vamtage training classes were highly engaging and we had a lot of fun throughout the course. There was never a boring moment. Every lesson was highly productive.

If you want a teaching opportunity in Thailand, I highly recommend getting your TESOL training at Vantage in Bangkok. I have learned so much from them. And if you are looking for a teaching career, these are the people you need to be talking to.

I previously had some experience teaching, but it was training in a different discipline. I also wanted to learn how to work with students learning English as a second language. I mastered all that. But I also learned a lot more—including many things I hadn’t considered before.

Vantage does a superb job of teaching how to formulate a professional lesson plan. But that’s only the beginning. I also learned to source the materials I needed to prepare my plans and then finally deliver a class to non-native English speakers. They guided me every step of the way. I learned how to be effective and successful in the classroom. Indeed, some of my students thought I was an experienced language teacher—not a TEFL trainee!

Chris, the lead trainer, is an amazing instructor who ensures everything is understood while at the same time keeping theoretical lessons fun and engaging. Vantage reviewed all the lesson plans I created before I stepped into the classroom. Most importantly, the constructive feedback I got back after each practice class helped me develop into the professional English teacher I am today.

The center also is extremely helpful in supporting you in your job search and even instructs you how to write an effective Power Resume and coaches you in interview techniques.

I highly recommend the TESOL certification at Vantage. What I have learned has been invaluable for my teaching career. I’m not only certified, but more importantly, today I’m confident I can teach successfully in any school anywhere.

I had an inauspicious start. I was not sure teaching anyone was my ticket—particularly to children of any stripe.

At first, I was wrong. My first class was not a good experience as this large class was a noisy, difficult, and unpleasant experience. The 10-12 year old kids were all over the place. I felt woefully unprepared to teach children.

I said to myself that I’m out of here. Teaching was not for me.

But Vantage’s lead trainer Chris recommended I stick around. He explained that most first-teaching class experiences are stressful and difficult; it´s normal. Teaching success isn’t instantaneous.

My second teaching practice was much better, with a more receptive and respectful class. This was much more rewarding. Though I didn’t realize it at the time, it was me who was doing most of the changing—not the kids. So my initial ‘wrong’ was becoming a ‘right.’

Subsequent observed teaching practices were even more successful in situations where most of the class couldn’t speak or understand much English. Nonetheless, they were a pleasure to teach.

This also highlighted how much my class preparation—my confidence and my delivery—had improved throughout the course, due to the training and experience I´d received at Vantage. I learned how to engage students at the beginning of a class. This set the tone for the rest of the hour.

I learned so much about what is required to become a good teacher. And I learned a lot about myself and my capabilities when I stick things out.

Vantage also covered job services. Their Power Resume class was a revelation and is so useful in preparing job applications.

And there is one more thing I got right. I chose Vantage!

From Home Schooling to a Thai Classroom
I would like to thank Vantage TEFL for their unwavering support for my new career.
I wouldn’t have said this a few months ago. As I grew up homeschooled as a kid, so I didn’t even have much experience as a traditional student who at least had years of experience watching teachers in classroooms.
So I think I was a bit more nervous than your average TEFL trainee.
In the end, it didn’t seem to matter. I was guided every step of the way on becoming an effective teacher.
I was shown how communicative teaching works. I learn how to forumulate efficient lesson plans. And then I taught them to six different classus under Vantage’s obsrvation and feedback.
I’m forever grateful for the knowledge, skills, and confidence Vantage has instilled in me. This course has built a strong foundation for my future. I’m ready to teach in any classroom, anywhere.

During my ‘research visit’ to Vantage, the Course Director jokingly remarked that they would have our souls on lease for a month. The intensity of the course was no joke, but within the daily grind of mastering a new craft, there were also moments of sheer wonder.

Delving into the intricacies of teaching was absolute joy. This meant dedicating weekdays to learning teaching methodologies, brushing up on my grammar, wrestling with phonological concepts, and weekends spent crafting lesson plans.

Life doesn’t get much better than this. In the end, the great satisfaction of eager faces in the classroom absorbing it all was incredibly gratifying.

Every stride I took brought back memories of my own school days. It was a truly remarkable journey—brimming with one learning experience after another as I acquired the skills of the trade.

What made this journey exhilarating were the trainers—the dynamic trio of Chris, Kevin, and Ryan. Chris, the lead trainer, is a quintessential Englishman with a unique sense of humor that only the British can pull off along with a wealth of knowledge. His teaching style is engaging—combining learning, laughter, and insight.

Kevin, Vantage’s Job Coach, shares invaluable tips on resume building and interview techniques. His poker-faced one-liners never failed to amuse, apart from serving their main purpose of boosting our confidence.

Ryan, always calm and composed, effortlessly introduced us to Thai culture and classroom etiquette.

As Chris often emphasizes, the best way to truly learn something is to teach it. And that’s’ what we did through six observed teaching practices.

Their guidance at every step of the way has paved the way for an exciting new career in teaching. I eagerly look forward to the road ahead, knowing that with Vantage’s training, I have assimilated a solid teaching foundation as I find my own footing in the road ahead.

I graduated from the TEFL training program at Vantage in Bangkok this past March. This course has given me the right tools to be successful as an English teacher.

It covered all the stops. I learned about teaching methodologies and techniques, grammar and, how to coach pronunciation. It also had a cultural component as the course also covered the dos and don’ts in a Thai schoolroom.

The observed teaching practices were one of the most valuable parts of my TEFL. We first had to learn how to formulate an actual lesson plan. Next, we discovered how to source effective teaching materials we needed to support our class. Then we delivered our class and got valuable feedback on what went well…and also things we still needed to work on for our next teaching session.

For me, the observed practice teaching was where I learned to be successful in the classroom.

The training at Vantage exceeded my expectations. It's the right choice if you want to be a skillful English teacher. Many thanks to the team at Vantage. They guided us each step of the way.

I really want to give my appreciation to Chris and Kevin. They were my mentors in my English teacher training. The course curriculum itself was first class and it covered in detail a lot of teaching techniques and tips.

My Vantage trainers guided me every step of the way—particularly when I did my practice teaching classes to real students.

For me, this was where I had the most fun. Although teaching was completely new to me—and it was challenging—it was the most worthwhile part of the program.

Overall I would rate Vantage as a TP: “totally perfect.”

The comprehensive curriculum covered everything from lesson planning to classroom management. The actual hands-on experience we got in a real classroom through practical activities was undoubtedly invaluable in the development of my new teaching skills.

This course was intensive—but always fun and engaging.

Vantage’s job services were also an area that shined. We created my new Power resume and cover letter and then I worked with their coach to develop a personalized strategy. I already have many interviews lined up just a week after completing the course.

Overall, this TEFL course was an excellent decision, with all the knowledge and skills I have gained, I am now ready to take on the challenge of helping my students in the second language acquisition.

As an aspiring TEFL educator, I couldn't have made a better choice in taking this course.

I did Vantage’s Combined TEFL course, where you do the coursebook online and then, in phase two, do your observed teaching practices (OTPs) in a classroom with real students. While I was waiting to do my practice teaching, Vantage invited by to ‘sit in’ any of the In-Class TEFL sessions that I wanted.

This is different than the online course. I could see that their lead trainer Chris is an awesome instructor! It has some sort of magic power to make lessons easy to understand. He also gave great guidance on our lesson planning before we proceeded with the OTPs.

As for the 6 OTPs, we did four hours of teaching in a real classroom and two hours of online teaching. We got to teach Thai students of different ages—from kindergarten to college students. We also observed professional teachers in action as well.

After each teaching session, we received feedback from the Vantage trainers who shared their own teaching experiences while giving me valuable detailed feedback on my performance in the classroom.

This really helped us improve for the next teaching session. got better with each practice class. This was truly a great experience!

Ryan’s class about Thai culture is really interesting and his ‘dos and don’ts in Thai schools are crucial for those who want to teach English in Thailand.

Kevin’s resume writing class is really useful, and I’m looking forward to landing a teaching job in Bangkok soon.

Besides the trainers, I had really lovely classmates who supported and motivated each other all the time. I was lucky to be with the right people at the right time.

Overall, Vantage’s trainers are very approachable, supportive, and knowledgeable. If there are any doubts about the course content, or visa-related concerns, or wanting to know more about a teaching career in Thailand, just talk to these amazing trainers. They gave good advice and shared interesting stories too.

On a more practical note, for those who worry about Vantage’s location and neighborhood…. their locale has got you covered. The nearest Skytrain station is Ratchayothin, only a five-minute walk away. And there’s a lot of local food and also fast-food restaurants at nearby malls.

I like to give, a huge shoutout to Vantage’s Chris, Kevin, and Ryan! You guys have been nothing but the best! If you want to be successful in the classroom, Vantage TEFL is the one!
