Most rewarding volunteer project

I volunteered with Think Pacific in Fiji in summer 2017. As my first time doing something like this I didn’t know what to expect however the team at Think Pacific helped me every step of the way from the enitial signing up, to flying out to Fiji and then carrying out the project. While volunteering in a village in Fiji, I could see the impact this project had on the people we were working with. The project gives these people the opportunity to learn and experience new things which they would never otherwise have the chance to experience. Volunteering with Think Pacific has been one of the most rewarding things I have done to date, spending time in the Fijian village with people who have so little yet are the happiest people I have ever met really reminds you that you don’t need all the latest gadgets to be happy and it has really taught me to appreciate the small things in life like friends and family. I couldn’t recommend this project enough to anyone considering volunteering.

Best experience I have ever had

Going to Fiji with Think Pacific was without a doubt, the most fulfilling, eye-opening and unique experience of my life. I went out not knowing any of the group I would be with, and within just a few days it had felt like I had known them for ages, which made the experience 10x more enjoyable. The staff and leaders of the group were passionate and friendly, and their hard work contributed massively and I can’t thank them enough. Finally, living out in a small village , completely cut off from the rest of the world, with a family that has been willing to let you, a stranger, into thier home is incredible. It really gives you a new perspective on everything and makes you realise what is really important in life.

Vinaka Fiji!

Think Pacific offers you the rare chance to go and live in the heart of the Fijian culture, living with a family was incredible and created invaluable memories and they really did become family! Last year I was lucky enough to go to Nelebaleba Village and get a home away from home! There are so many opportunities to make a difference to all the people living there whether it's from something small like hand washing to teaching children to read! I have so many good valuable memories from volunteering with Think Pacific, with everyone in the village and especially with other volunteers with who you become so close with so quickly!
Think Pacific are very organised, and the programme had a clear structure and was value for money, with some of it even going to the local village to help sustain their development.
It's the best thing I have ever done and if you're in doubt about doing it then sign up anyway you won't regret it! The 1 month project was definitely not long enough, and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat 🇫🇯 Cannot wait to go back to Fiji already. Thank you think Pacific

Very good programme - Quality staff and well organised project!

3 week programme with Think Pacific was fantastic. You actually feel like you are making a difference to the community that you become part of. You are totally immersed in Fijian village life and become part of the family.

You have a variety of different opportunities and skills to develop when you are helping in the schools. Spending time 1-1 with the children who need the tutoring really allows you to build a relationship to help them develop even in just 3 weeks.

The project is well organised by the TP staff and the project leaders. Throughout the project you feel well informed and supported - even if you were to need help then there is always someone that would be there to advise you.

Overall the TP projects are fantastically organised with a structure that enables them to have a long lasting impact on the villages and communities that you volunteer in. If you want to make a difference for the future and create great memories along the way then I definitely recommend Think Pacific.

Once in a lifetime!

The experience I got to have from this programme was definitely something I’ll remember forever! Being excepted as a part of somebodies culture and family was a heart warming feeling you don’t get just anywhere!
From the teaching in schools, coaching sports, learning new culural things, excursions and adventures to making a difference to so many individuals lives by just being there helping and many more experiences, everything was a once in a lifetime experience and feeling!
There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing that you’re making a difference to someone’s life!
Would definitely go again if I could!

Amazing experience

I had the best month in Fiji with Think Pacific and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s up for a challenge and wants to make an impact to the rural communities of Fiji. It’s not all about teaching at the school, but also learning about the Fijian culture, bonding with our Fijian families and making friends. The leaders also provide excellent support, both for our medical needs as well as emotional support whenever we felt homesick, etc. It was a rewarding and fun experience and I would do it all over again!

Overall

What a lovely time we've had during our voluntary project in Fiji (20th July - 17th August) with Think Pacific. Thanks to TP for boosting my confidence by giving me the chance to try something different and build a real sense of achievement. Not only I've achieved my goals by using my skills and experience to help people there but challenged myself to trying something new too. (Lots of sports 😀)
This is one of the most rewarding things I've done. I've met wonderful people, made new friends & family and become a part of a Fijian community!
I gave it all I had for the time I was there and I had FUN!

By far the highlight of my gap year

I had the most amazing time in Fiji with Think Pacific. It was so impactful for both us and the village we were living in, and I honestly would recommend it to absolutely everyone.
I made friends for life, and learnt so many different skills!
The highlights were definitely the Village life.
It was amazingly well run, from before I’d even left the Uk right through to the end of the trip. If I could do it all over I would!

Incredible Project

Spending a month in Fiji with Think Pacific was a life changing experience. The team I travelled out with have become a close group of friends, especially those I lived with.
Being placed with a Fijian family that made me feel so welcoming taught me what Fijian life was really like.. Amazing! We became part of the family and still in contact with them now.

My highlight of the project was working in Kindi, couldn't recommend this project more. Best month of my life!

Making a difference in Fiji

I absolutely loved my time volunteering in Fiji. Before the project the leaders made sure we knew how difficult it was going to be and tried their best to make us aware of what we were going to be facing.
Once in the village, I really felt like we were making a difference in the village and especially in the schools. Think Pacific is different to other similar charities as you stay with families and one of my favourite parts of the trip was getting to know my Fijian family, and especially seeing my nine year old Fijian sister start to trust me more and more as the trip went on.
Another favourite part of the trip was teaching in the Kindi and getting to play with the kids and helping them improve their basic English.
I’d like future participants to know that you’ll most likely be ill for the entire trip but it’s so worth it.

What would you improve about this program?
As we stayed with families, there was such a range of living conditions so the charity could potentially ensure every volunteer has similar levels of comfort by providing families with more home items.
