A positive and insightful experience

I had a every positive experience with the classroom part of the TEFL course. At first, I was skeptical at how would such as compressed classroom course would be engaging, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Asif is a very capable and experienced instructor. He did not spare a chance at sharing tips and situations related to TEFL in different contexts, which gave me enough background and confidence to walk into the job. The classroom experience included a lot of practical exercises and chances to practice all the concepts we were taught. The group dynamics in the course, very well-facilitated by Asif made it a lot of fun too. I left the course taking away tips and methods I will not forget, and look forward to apply. The selected venue was also very convenient and comfortable. Thank you.

Great introduction to life in the classroom

This highly interactive course was a great introduction to TEFL for me. I had only just begun the online course so was entering as a full novice. In a packed 3 days I feel I learnt a huge amount about what's involved in planning and delivering lessons and taking responsibility as a teacher. Our teacher, Rachel, was terrific. She created a hugely positive and inclusive learning environment; encouraging questions and feedback throughout and sharing some extremely helpful and entertaining anecdotes from her own teaching experience. The exercises were very well constructed and really helpful in introducing the kind of materials we could use. I was never bored and always felt challenged in the course - but in a fun and supportive atmosphere! Great course, thank you.

TEFL 30 Hour Weekday Course

This course is absolutely fantastic, mainly due to the excellent teaching of Rachel who helped guide me and the rest of the class through the tasks without any of them feeling unreachable.

The lessons were well structured, well-paced and nothing ever felt too rushed. Our teacher took time to answer our questions whilst also making sure that we were hurried along at points when people went too off-topic, setting an amazing example for us as potential teachers.

There wasn't too many people in the class and it didn't feel too crowded. I felt that I got enough one on one time, whilst also having a lot of group activities. The ideas given to us for lesson ideas were clear and fun, along with the lessons about teaching structures (PPP and skills lessons).

I would highly recommend this course to anyone that is looking to improve their TEFL teaching skills.

What would you improve about this program?
Nothing it was well laid out, presented and timed. It challenged me when necessary whilst also being accessible enough to make me extremely motivated and keen to learn more.

Great experience

I had a very enjoyable and positive experience, all of my fellow students were extremely friendly and helpful. Despite being from a variety of different countries and backgrounds we all got on very well with one another and helped each other if necessary. As a result of the lessons we were taught I feel ready to teach English abroad now; I couldn't imagine becoming an effective Foreign Language English teacher without undertaking this programme, despite English being my mother tongue. Asif was a fantastic teacher, I wish I could've had teachers like him at school! He was extremely engaging and really motivated us to want to teach to the best of our abilities. Overall, I know I speak for everyone in the group when I say it was an extremely valuable experience and I'm thoroughly glad I did it.

Excellent

I was very pleased with the 2 day weekend course. Before arrival i was really anxious and worried that the 20 hours would drag. The time just flew and i really felt confident by the end that i too can deliver a class. The trainer delivered the class really well, and getting all of us involved, providing real life examples and experiences. He was very open to questions, and took out time from his break to speak with us if we needed to ask him something. He gave us advice on how to start a class. I was interested in online teaching. He advised me on how to go about it and the things that i would need. Also advised us on how to apply for the jobs online. I would definitely recommend this course to others as i am sure that they would get the most out of this as i have done.

What was your funniest moment?
When we had to go into character mode. It was funny but also hard as its difficult to pretend you can't understand English, and how much do you pretend, when is it ok to show that you understand

David's TEFL Course - London

David is a lovely guy, he clearly knows his stuff and is confident in getting it across to everyone in the class. He made a very long course very enjoyable! He went through everything clearly, allowing us to take it all in, and all the activities and presentations he used were useful and well thought out. I thought he did a great job in getting so much across in such a short space of time. He put everyone at ease which is important when you are spending 20 hours in a room with the same people.

The facilities were very good too, plenty of tea/coffee/water, apples and cushions etc

What would you improve about this program?
There is nothing I would change about this program

Overall a useful course

The weekend was great for summarising all the important learning points from the online course, and gave us an opportunity to practice carrying out two real life tefl lessons with constructive feedback. Carl was great and made the weekend a lot more interesting than I expected. Would recommend for anyone planning on using Tefl to teach abroad. Carl was also able to give valuable travel advice about teaching in countries all over the world, and the advantages and disadvantages of different countries. also a great way to meet other like minded people and discuss travel plans and experiences. Carl also gave us the opportunity to share contact details with each other so that we could stay in contact. Overall a very well ran course, would highly recommend.

A great introduction to TEFL and the realities of teaching abroad

I was about a quarter of my way through my online TEFL course when I took my weekend course. I was hoping the class would answer some of my concerns about walking into a room and simply teaching in English. The use of a 'guinea-pig' lesson in German really helped me to understand how to be confident and use hand gestures and positivity to create a fun lesson in a foreign language. The whole weekend left me feeling a lot more motivated and ready to start the next stage of my studies. It was very beneficial to hear about the teacher's own experiences teaching abroad, it really emphasised the variety of opportunities available as a TEFL teacher. Being tasked with teaching our own five-minute lesson was a really great way to put into practise what we had learnt so far. I am definitely glad that I took the weekend course as well as my online studies!

What would you improve about this program?
I think it is really helpful to meet others studying on the TEFL course. It would be great to have more opportunities to meet fellow students. Perhaps the organisation could run some social events to meet others in your area who are about to embark on the same adventure!

Invaluable learning experience

I did my course in Belfast with Carl and I really enjoyed it. You can study all the theory you like but when faced with a mock classroom situation that all goes out the window quick smart ! Carl showed us how to structure the theory and bring it to life as a lesson plan. We got endless useful tips and exercises to use as well as presentation pointers. Most importantly he gave us the confidence to apply our knowledge and improve without being daunted by the prospect. Carl was vastly experienced and a mine of information which he happily shared , he was also mindful of each individual in the group and there was something for everyone. I was with a delightful group of young folk ( I was of a much older vintage ) and I can only say it was very worthwhile , relaxing and fun - a must for anyone wanting to teach either home or abroad.

What would you improve about this program?
I cant really find fault, I had a lovely wee group and it was a memorable experience both from a learning and personal perspective

Great interactive course

David was really friendly, engaging and helpful. I enjoyed the course. We were taught many techniques that would be really good to share with any future students or teachers. We were reassured that no one knows everything and that we will learn on the job. It was also nice to mix with different people and discover other futureoptions after the course. The course wasn't too heavy and David made sure he kept it light and fun it didn't feel like work at all. We were given a booklet for reference and the option the recive the slides used in the class. We also were given many resources to aid lesson planning and also job search sites. This course for myself was a stepping stone to try volunteer before continuing my journey and doing a CELTA. This course would be helpful for anyone thinking of teaching English as a language or any teacher looking for more information and technique about engaging teaching methodology.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
It would be helpful to advice students to complete the online course first or some parts of it to aid and get the most out of the 2 day courses.
