Highly recommended !

I highly recommend Reach to Teach! This is my first teaching job abroad (in Taiwan) and as you might expect I was a little nervous about finding a job with a reputable school and moving half way across the world. From submitting my application, Reach to Teach were excellent. They replied quickly to emails and phone calls, and were very supportive throughout the application process and once I arrived in Taipei. Importantly I felt under no pressure to take a position unless I was completely satisfied with the job on offer. In country RTT regularly arrange social events that make it easy to connect with other teachers/friends and offer a great deal of advice.

As a first time teacher I would defiantly advice using Reach to Teach to find a suitable employer.

What would you improve about this program?
I can't think of anything I would change about the RTT service.

Exactly as Advertised

Finding a job in China through Reach to Teach was effortless. After completing the application form and questions on their website, Carrie took care of everything else. Finding out exactly what type of person I was and what my expectations were for the year abroad. Then she found me a position that suited me perfectly, putting me in contact with the school's management but also taking time to take me through the expected duties as well as giving me lots of information and resources about the city and area I'd be moving to.

The experience so far has been more that I ever thought it would be. The staff at the school are incredibly supportive and helpful, if there is anything at all I don't understand or am unsure of, they are there in an instant. Whether it be teaching related, or opening a Chinese bank account or if I simply don't understand a note that has been pinned to my apartment door. The accommodations are exactly what was advertised on the school's website as are the benefits.

I would recommend the Reach to Teach company to anyone.

What would you improve about this program?
For me, the whole experience was painless and hassle free. I can't think of anything that I would change.

Very helpful, great personal attention

I was in brief contact with multiple recruiters while hunting for a job in Asia; Reach to Teach was by far the best. Rick, my contact, was always available for questions and gave straightforward info.

What would you improve about this program?
No complaints about Reach to Teach! Get ready to be very patient when applying for a Chinese work visa, though--that was a pretty long process.

Nanjing

Nanjing is such a beautiful city! There is so much to do here and the type of job that I have makes it very easy to get out and take in the city sights. It's been great being able to check out a 15th century pagoda in the morning and then taking the short subway ride back to work to then teach the cutest children ever!

The only difficulty is that a lot of the foreign events happen during my work hours, so a change of housing location might be in order for next year to help remedy that issue.

What would you improve about this program?
More locations and more company options. From my discussions with other individuals who have been hired through Reach to Teach there seemed to be a lack of diversity in where they were being directed. In my experience, I was only offered two companies to work with. While it was nice to have a smaller selection, it would have been an additional benefit to know what my options were geographically and financially (i.e. having two or three companies that teach junior and senior children but differ in terms of where they operate in Shanghai/Nanjing and what the difference in salary is).
Response from Reach to Teach

Thank you for the feedback, we appreciate it. Placing teachers in China is a bit more complicated than other countries-we have to look at teacher qualification and current openings and weigh that with what the local government requires for a work permit. In the end, we send teachers every offer that they are qualified for AND can get a visa for, which sometimes limits options. Rest assured, we will send you information on every job you can get.

High Quality Organization

I knew I chose the right program once I started getting quick emails and phone calls directly from the owner and colleagues. Moving across the world can be a daunting, but rewarding experience and Reach to Teach made it such a easy and welcoming change. If I needed any assistance though out the on boarding process they were always there, and very attentive. Reach to Teach follows up with you throughout the experience making sure you're happy, comfortable and really enjoying your time and adjusting properly. I definitely recommend going through Reach to Teach to anyone who wants a personal experience.

What would you improve about this program?
I honestly can't think of anything wrong. I was fully informed and taken care of throughout the whole experience.

Great experience, great support

I've only been in Korea for three weeks now, but thus far have nothing but good things to say about EPIK and Reach to Teach. The application was complicated (not difficult, but complicated) and RTT was incredibly helpful with all of it. I love my school and the kids I teach, so this has been a great experience.

Really on top of things

Everyone involved was very well informed and very on top of getting information for me, and letting me know what I needed to do. Reach to Teach did a stellar job assisting me through a very daunting application.

What would you improve about this program?
I felt slightly misled by my location assignment. I was told "Daegu" and I guess I technically am, but I was put out in the boondocks and am a 40 minute bus ride from they city. I will also have to change apartments by the end of the month, because the rent is going to be over the housing allowance.

Wonderful Company with a Great Personality

My Journey to South Korea would not have been possible without the help and support of Reach To Teach. They offered personal and direct help with all my documents and application. The staff went above and beyond the call of duties for me. I would recommend anyone and everyone to Reach To Teach.

My experience

Everybody was always available, extremely helpful and very friendly. Everything went smoothly.
The only difficulty I experienced was deadline dates in certain emails that were incorrect and caused extra spending. Notably for the CRC check. I had to get it done three times as the date kept changing.

What would you improve about this program?
Ensure that the deadline dates in emails are correct.

Reach to Teach is Awesome!

While I do not begin my South Korean journey until tomorrow, Reach to Teach has been by my side every step of the way leading up to this big day! The staff is responsive and efficient, and turns a truly overwhelming process into manageable chunks. I have nothing but positive things to say about my personal recruiter. I think it's safe to say that deciding to move abroad is a HUGE undertaking and I'm not sure if I could have done it without his guidance and expertise. Thank you, to my recruiter, and the entire staff of Reach to Teach!

What would you improve about this program?
I had a lot of "surprises" during the process. Things like not knowing that I wouldn't know which city I was placed in until after I applied (it's the opposite in the private school sector) and the fact that orientation is a week before the contract begins. These items may be commonly known by staff members, but to a newbie to the process losing a whole week before departure time is a HUGE deal. Because I am a planner by nature, and because there is a lot of information on the web that led me to believe otherwise, I had a lot of "freak out" moments before departure that could have been avoided with some critical knowledge about the entire process beforehand.
