Summer in Barcelona

My son, a rising senior, enjoyed his 2.5 weeks on the Abbey Road Program in Barcelona. He found the other students to be very friendly and enjoyed all of the activities. He enjoyed meeting students from throughout the USA. The accommodations were above what he expected and he really liked the counselors on the program. He enjoyed the sports programs and the day trips. The directors of the program were attentive to the needs of the students.

He was sad for this experience to be over and wishes he could come back next year.

Abbey Road Florence, Italy

Exceptional summer abroad program for students. In addition to being immersed in the history, beauty and culture of Florence; class instruction provided for art history, photography and cooking (additional programs were available). Accommodations of shared apartment was very spacious and comfortable. Food was delicious and weekend trips were to great locations. Venice being part of this trip was a wonderful addition. Unfortunately the heat impeded some of the enjoyment of the Rome Add-On. Loved the program overall.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Stay as long as you can. Pack light weight clothes for the heat.
Pros
  • Courses and Location
  • Food
  • Shared apartment
Cons
  • Heat

Best study abroad program in Florence!

My three teenage kids just finished a two week program in Florence with Abbey Road and it was fantastic. They took different classes - studio art, art history, Italian language, Italian cuisine, and fashion design - and all of them had wonderful experiences. The teachers were terrific, the food was delicious, and the accommodations were ideal. They made great friends and loved traveling around Italy. My only complaint is that they don’t have a separate program for the parents, so we could enjoy studying abroad, too! Highly recommend!

Abbey Road Nice program

My 14 and 16 year old daughters had an amazing time on the Abbey Road Nice program this summer! They both felt their French language skills improved significantly and they enjoyed many activities such as tubing, the beach, museums and going out to cafes and restaurants. The weekend trips were also wonderful! They really enjoyed Eze and Monaco. Arthur the program director is great and the teachers were fantastic. They also enjoyed the residence and location close to Old Town Nice. Highly recommended this program!

Excellent Program in Perfect Location

We cannot say enough good things about the Abbey Road Nice program! We were impressed with the communication we received from the director, Arthur, every step of the way. He made safety his number one priority — reasonable curfews, great staff-to-student ratios, check-ins with WhatsAppp. The program was perfectly balanced between education and fun. They spent three hours Monday through Friday in French class and had an elective class in the afternoon three days a week (French conversation or photography). Each day also had optional (parent’s choice) but carefully monitored free time for kids to explore the city in small groups. We couldn’t wait to hear where they would go on their weekend day trip adventures. Nice was the perfect city for the program—both in terms of its size and location. We also felt the pricing was very fair—each student had a private room and bath, all meals (in restaurants!) were included, and all day trips were covered in full — including meals, transportation and fees for museums etc. It was a perfect pre-college experience which helped our daughter (15) build confidence and independence as well as improve her French! Thank you Arthur and all the staff at Abbey Road!

Great Summer Teen Program in Nice

Our daughter made an amazing friend group in Nice when she first arrived and said she never laughed so much in her life. Her friend group put away their phones and instead spent their time chatting in French class, conversing while dining out every meal, sunning at the beach, visiting neighboring cities and enjoying their independence exploring Nice. Our daughter returned more confident in herself, happier and more relaxed in who she is. Her experience was life changing and it was very sad to leave but she’s in touch with her friends. Arthur, who was very present and communicative with the parents, consistently sharing photos and giving updates, was lovely. He has much experience with his program and handled everything with much care and expertise. Our daughter thought he was amazing. Thank you for this unforgettable experience.

What was your funniest moment?
Our daughter laughed with her friends throughout the 3 week stay. Especially going out each night after dinner for ice cream. Always having the best time.
Pros
  • Friendship
  • France
  • Food
Cons
  • Early curfew
  • Sometimes Travel in one big group
  • More French conversation

Fabulous program

My son (15) just completed three weeks in Nice and it was life-changing (for the better). He learned a ton, made potentially lifelong friends, and clearly came back home a more independent being. The program really is an excellent blend of education and recreation. Also, the digital photography program sparked a lot of motivation for him to continue to hone his craft. My son is even talking about wanting to do another program next year and where he may want to go.

I was particularly impressed with the level of communication from the program. Even with our child halfway around the world, we never worried because we got daily reports via WhatsApp. Anyway, I can’t recommend the program enough.

3 unforgettable weeks in the Cote d’azur

My daughter had a wonderful experience with Abbey Road in Nice. From start to finish the staff was professional, attentive, friendly and kind. The kids were never bored and they got to experience France through the eyes of locals. They practiced their French daily and ate at wonderful restaurants every day and on the weekends traveled up and down the French Riviera to see all the important and beautiful sights. They had just enough freedom to not feel too restricted but felt safe at all times. Lilly is very grateful to have taken part in this experience. Thank you to the Abbey Road staff!

Review from Guardian

My younger sister joined the Florence Summer Program in 2024. She enjoyed the trip, and as a guardian, my perspective is that the program is a great way to expose young teens to new experiences, challenge them, and have them discover more about the world and themselves. The chaperones of the program are responsive, helpful, and proactive. They went above and beyond to accommodate special requests and understand each child's unique situation. If you have a shy kid, this is a great way to bring them out of their comfort zone, both the kids and chaperones are very kind and friendly. Thank you Abbey Road for providing a really important and meaningful life experience to my younger sister!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve-wracking part of the process was waiting for a Schengen visit visa (Needed if you're not American or European) and making sure it came in time before the departure date. The staff was extremely accommodating as we organized our plans on a later timeline than the rest, due to having to wait for the visa!
Pros
  • Beautiful City
  • Kind People
  • Fostering Independence
Cons
  • Lots of walking (not a con, but can be challenging if the kid is not used to it or has mobility issues)
