Great Global Challenge

I Learnt so much about entrepreneurship and the challenges facing a post-COVID society. It was also a great experience to collaborate with an international team working across different time zones, and tackling the challenges that come with this. I met some amazing people and heard from truly inspiration speakers. I've honestly gained things from this that will probably shape the rest of my life and career. Despite us being scattered around all corners of the globe, HEX somehow made it feel like a close-knit community.

Great job and Thank you!

This is a great event, love the virtual mode and all the guest speakers. The workshops about prototyping and market research were very helpful for a student like me from non-IT/business background, please keep it going.
Involving students from different time zone is definitely a fun thing to do, and I believe this will be the future trend. The intense schedule is a bit unexpected, but the challenging bit of it definitely helps me step out of my comfort zone.
Lastly, all the mentors were helpful and kind! Absolutely learnt a lot from them and build up some new network.

What would you improve about this program?
For improvement, if the schedules can be announced earlier (e.g. 1-2 weeks ahead) so the participants can have more time to arrange the schedules for the week.
And please have more mentor sessions (as they are all booked out 1-2 days forehand.

Most captivating experience

I was a part of this innovative program in 2018 and found the entire experience extremely engaging and knowledgeable. The quality of each industry expert session was profound, we were able to interact with experts from several industries helping us gain insights from all different aspects. The friendships and relationship built overtime not only made me culturally and emotionally intelligent but also improved my interpersonal skills. Moreover, the most indulging part of the program is the freedom to explore your own interest/space, build networks, learn from others, and feel what it's like to be a tiny yet significant part of Silicon Valley.

Just being there with a proactive, super organized, and awesome bunch of people felt amazing.

HEX Successfully Combines Both Fun and Education in the One Program

I honestly had the most fun I've ever had learning while on HEX. Going to San Fransisco and Silicon Valley was a dream for me, and it really did live up to all my expectations and more. We got to learn from some amazing founders, leaders and mentors which allowed us to really increase our knowledge and work on many soft skills. Combine this with 2 weeks with a really good group of people in San Fransisco meant that there were a lot of fun experiences that we had that I will remember for my whole life.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Definitely the most nerve-racking moment was having to pitch a business idea to real VC's. I tried to think of it more like a school presentation, and that helped my nerves a bit (albeit slightly).

HEX Tel Aviv 2020

Its was an incredible journey with HEX, I would never imagine to learn so many things be it profession or for personal development, making new friends for life, meeting great bunch of people from start-up world and support from HEX crew specially ( Jeanette & Chris) from start till end of the program and life long bonding with HEX. HEX is one of the most memorable part of my life and I would love to join HEX for other program too. Hex program has given me lots of confidence at a same time I have been able to identify my weakness and how to over come it through help from my friends and mentors.

life-changing experience

This program was not just a regular university course, it gave me so much more than I expected. I feel that I grew as a person and as a professional a lot and in just 2 weeks I learned more than I usually can learn in one semester. The mentors were absolutely amazing: very supportive, chill, understanding and always ready to help. I truly enjoyed the program and got inspired to go to the world with this knowledge and achieve more than I was dreaming about. I started believing in myself and my ideas and I am grateful to the HEX program for this milestone. Not only the entrepreneurship tools and practice were taught on the program, but also life experience and exposure to the real-world success cases and company tours.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
For me, the scariest thing was the final pitch presentation, because I am naturally introverted and shy. I prepared a lot but still got nervous before the presentation and didn't do as great as I wanted to, but I am very proud of the results I achieved. I am glad I had that experience and I learned a lot from my mistakes.

Hacker Exchange Program

The best part about my trip in San Francisco was the knowledge that I gained in two weeks. During the two weeks I also developed myself as a person and grew a lot from the experience. Networking in San Francisco made me aware of the talent that is out there which motivates me to push myself and be better. Not to mention I also had the opportunity to work with smart and talented students from all over Australia who came from different walks of life. I feel very fortunate everyone on the program were super supportive.

What would you improve about this program?
Something the hacker exchange can do differently next time is to provide more free time in between workshops and tours to allow students to work on their startup ideas. I feel like we were doing so much in the two weeks that a lot of us rushed our pitches in the end.

Utterly Life Changing

The Hacker Exchange has that elusive mix of exceptional people with strategic business skills and the drive to create positive change in the world.

It was such an education to engage with exceptional people in the Startup Nation! And thanks to the Hacker Exchange, we really did get to integrate with the startup ecosystem — at Tel Aviv's startup hub SOSA, with founders, VCs, mentors, the Australian Landing Pad and even the Israel-Australia Chamber of Commerce! They really are at the cutting edge.

I had never been to Israel and didn't know what to expect. But I knew many of the greatest minds of the past century had been forged there. And now I can see how this small nation has become a global driver of innovation. Resourcefulness and progress appear to be sewn into the social and economic fabric of Tel Aviv.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would leave enough time to see more in the region afterwards, including Petra and the Dead Sea.
