This was my first time doing an academic course online. It was a thrilling and exciting experience! It was very insightful. I’m sharing my experience as it was such a positive one. I was well conversant before enrolling in the program. However, to become an ESL teacher is a whole different level. So, as I’m looking forward to become an ESL teacher in Vietnam next year it was essential for me to grasp certain vital elements that in my view are mandatory to become one. From teaching techniques to how to handle a class room, encouraging students to engage in class and to cater to all types of students were few of the many important things I learnt.

Enrolling in this course erased all my worries before starting my journey to becoming an English tutor/teacher. The course provides modules that not only helped me re-learn English but also equipped me with the knowledge that an English teacher would need. I recently completed the TEFL course at TESOL Academy, and overall, it provided a solid foundation for teaching English as a foreign language. The curriculum covered essential aspects of language teaching.

However, one notable drawback was the limited support provided for teachers who might be required to teach subjects beyond English, such as homeroom teachers. The course seemed primarily focused on English instruction, leaving some participants seeking additional guidance when faced with the challenge of teaching other subjects.

While the TEFL program is well-designed for English language teaching, TESOL Academy could enhance its offerings by incorporating more comprehensive support for educators who find themselves in diverse teaching roles. This adjustment would ensure a more inclusive and beneficial learning experience for all participants.

I think the information that I read is very much in depth and highly beneficial. However, it seems like there is too many writing. It is not engageful enough for me. I think more colours and pictures should be added. Or even more videos will be more interesting, I think there should be a takeaway module too or a place to take notes. In that way, I am also moving and taking notes as I am doing my reading,I think only reading was a bit challenging to finish such an insightful topic. Less writing and more visual for me.

I have a degree and Master's in English and was a bit reluctant at first about taking this course. However, I must admit that I learned a lot from this course and would recommend it to all my former classmates and friends. I am confident that many teachers, especially those from my country, Nigeria, can learn a lot from this course, particularly the Teaching techniques and Class Management Modules. I recommend this for those who want to teach English anywhere in the world both online and offline.

I felt different after taking the course as a teacher. I had an opportunity to unlearn, learn and re-learn English. The platform was more than useful to me as a teacher of English. The most interesting part was the fact that it did not only remind me of the English content but also helped me know how best to teach them to my learners. This, stood out to me very much and I will share this with all my teaching colleagues and friends for consideration. My learners will definitely benefit more and improve from my new pedagogical skills acquired.
