Come Experience China!

Dan is awesome, he has communicated with me every step of the way, did his best to make sure I ended up somewhere I was comfortable and always answered my silly questions.
I've had terrible experience with other recruiters but Dan knows what he's doing and I really owe it to him that I am out here.
Living in China takes some time to get used too, but its nice to know you can rely on Dan if things become dire.
China is a lovely country, there's lots to see and do here. It is so big that you can live in any climate you want. Definitely give China a chance!

Pros
  • He basically holds your hand throughout the legal side of the process.
  • Doesn't focus on one school, he finds what he believes is best suited for each individual.
  • China has good food and you can buy a lot of unneeded stuff cheaply.
Cons
  • Have to be very firm with the Chinese school/company on what you want or don't want to do.
  • Make sure to reverify with the school/company all the promises that were said before signing anything.
  • Language barrier.

Dan is the Man

I only reached out to Dan after seeing him feature in a Youtube video about teaching abroad and wanted to get a bit more information on where to start. From there Dan has done everything to get me set up for success in teaching in Beijing. He's walked me through every stage of the process, kept regular contact at each progression point, and even managed to find my currently employment after the first one turned out to be unsuitable (Medical insurance). Dan's the man to talk to if you're looking at teaching abroad in China and I can't recommend him enough.

Pros
  • Regular contact at each stage of the process
  • In depth help and support through the interviewing stages
  • Friendly, reliable and get's the job done
Cons
  • The process moves very quickly once you've got a job offer (not a bad thing to me)

Teach English Global

Working with Dan from TEG was an amazing experience. His ability to maintain constant communication with me as a new traveling teacher really insured that my experience was comfortable, and I stayed well informed during the entire process of working oversees. Through any hurdle in the process, Dan made sure to work with me and explain every issue so that I felt at ease with the process. My preparation for interviews, visa application and booking my flight were taken care of. I built a deep trust of Dan and TEG during my time with them. I recommend this recruiting company for any prospective or experienced teacher who wants to have a smooth experience and feel like their recruiter, who is also an experienced ESL and expat, is on their team.

Pros
  • Clear and constant communication
  • Recruiter has a lot of experience in the field
  • Assistance with every aspect of the process
Cons
  • Time difference (recruiter is based in UK and I am in the US)

English Teacher

The process of coming to China has been great. I didn't have any major challenges and any challenges I did have Dan (my recruiter) was there to support me. Dan walked me through each step of the process so I never felt overwhelmed with anything. He also provided resources to help with paperwork. I applied and was hired by Houhai English. It is a company that takes care of it's employees, has high teaching standards, and is a very ethical company with a good work environment. I am just starting my career as an English teacher and Teach English Global was a good resource for me.

Pros
  • very fun
  • great learning experience
  • an adventure
Cons
  • lonely at times
  • paperwork
  • the flight

Good communication and smooth visa.

I was connected to a Chinese agency and provided with all the documents needed to get the Z-visa in my home country. Once in China the company helped me prepare for interviews, do demos and meet other new teachers who were training. All questions were answered by Dan before leaving and then by people in SIE when I arrived in China. They gave me a few days to relax upon arriving and then I was quickly taken to do a medical, get a SIM card, open a bank and meet people at the main headquarters. The experience was great for a person going to teach in China for the first time!

Pros
  • Quick visa
  • Lots of communication on Skype/Ding Talk/Wechat
  • very transparent
Cons
  • Linked to another agency instead of directly to a school

Great city + nice company to work for

Shanghai is a great city with lots to do and the people are very friendly. It is very safe, especially for women and the benefits for people working for this company are great. If you are into more hardcore clubbing/nightlife I would say perhaps China in general isn’t for you, but otherwise there are fun activities that cater to pretty much all interests. Dan was also very helpful with everything before coming out here and made the visa process very smooth— any queries or doubts I had were resolved quickly.

Definitely recommend Teach English Global.

Teach English Global was very helpful with finding me a place to work in China. Dan noted all my interests and found a school that was suitable for me very quickly, even with my limited teaching experience. Dan has previously worked in China, so he understands the process of working in China well. He helped me prepare for all the steps leading into China. The process of finding teaching work in China is definitely easier with Teach English Global, and I would recommend them if you are considering teaching in China.

Moving to teach in China

I have always had a dream to go to China. To make this dream into reality I took on a 3 year degree at the open university. After completing this I found Teach English Global and Dan has been a great support from the start . I have received support from SIE when arriving in China with local logistics I needed to have and training support . I’m looking forward to my teaching in Guangzhou in the next couple of weeks

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Leaving my family even at the airport but I had to think I have to do this for me there’s always chance to come back on vacation and completion of contract
Pros
  • Great support
  • Exciting culture and scenery
  • People are nice here
Cons
  • Language barrier
  • Cultural and political differences
  • Sometimes the heat

TEFL in Shanghai

Dan was amazing from the off and provided us with consistent support throughout the process. He helped us to find a school and organised all of the interviews for us. The process of getting our documentation together was pretty smooth sailing and Dan was on hand throughout to support. Even now that we are out in Shanghai Dan has checked in to ensure we have settled well. Shanghai is a really cool city and I am very happy with the school Dan supported us in corresponding with. I would recommend working with Dan/Teach English Global to secure a position.

Pros
  • Fun
  • Good Salary
  • Good Support

Very good company to help you get to China

Dan has been amazing from start to finish in this tough climate, from finding a suitable job placement in China to getting the visa. Each step of the way was well explained and clearly described to me. He has kept up to date with all the latest arbitrary Chinese government regulations and rule changes which is near impossible to do and I commend his perseverance. I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking to go to China for work. I wish him and his company the best going forward.

Cheers Dan
