Excellent for jobs in China

Teach English Global has been great for me, and ended up helping me find a job in China. Dan was very helpful explaining in detail the different types of schools available in China (many other recruiters don’t mention this) and the requirements for each one. They can put you in contact with schools in many different cities, but I was very particular about being in a certain one, which ended up working out in the end. The school has also been easy to work with and great so far. Overall I would definitely recommend Teach English Global.

Teach English Global Review

Teach English Global has helped massively when it came to finding a Teaching position in China. They reached out straight away and quickly set up an interview with a great company. The team were friendly and easy to talk to about any concerns or help with any of more difficult visa steps.

I would highly recommend Teach English Global to anyone seeking a TEFL job especially if you're not sure where to start or how to look for positions and find contacts. These things would have surely been quite tricky if not for the service provided.

Amazing Recruiter

Dan was exceptional throughout the entire process, from the start he clearly explained what would happen and when while also not overwhelming me with information. He was extremely supportive and encouraged me to think over every decision, always reiterating that there were other options should I want them. He is very friendly and always there to answer any questions you might have, overall he made the entire Visa process as straightforward and easy as it possibly could have been and offers great support for when you arrive in China.

The best company to work with!

I rarely leave reviews, but I had to make an exception as Dan is brilliant! From the initial contact, all the way through to me leaving for China, he was so supportive. I cannot thank him enough for the help, guidance, support, great communication, excellent knowledge and a lovely personality! This was my first time travelling, leaving home and being away from family, and Dan held my hand the whole way through. What's even better, is Dan has been where I am and has experienced everything I was going through, so knew how to reassure me. If you're looking for a company who makes everything as easy and straightforward as possible, look no further. I would HIGHLY recommend Teach English Global.

Very Positive Placement Experience in China

Dan helped me get placed in a teaching job in a language center in Shenzhen China. He was super helpful throughout the interview process putting me in touch with a variety of different of schools, and advising me based off what environment I was looking for. Also he did a fantastic job walking me through the sometimes complicated paper work for my visa application. And has checked in since I’ve started working to make sure everything is going well. I highly recommend working with him if you’re interested in teaching anywhere in China!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Definitely make the most of your travels and time working here!

Solid Recruiter

Dan is always on top of everything!

He communicates very clearly and doesn't put any pressure on you to commit to decisions. His information and insight has been very valuable through the recruitment process. Within 24 hours he had already found me a potential employer. He worked with me through each stage of securing the job and his contacts made the visa application process straightforward and easy. I would definitely make use of his services again in the future and I recommend him to others.

Dan was very helpful

Dan provided great support in getting me out to China quickly at an inopportune time of the year. He’s provided support when anything has gone wrong while I’m out here and regularly checks up on me to ensure my needs are being met. If you’re looking to teach English and travel, I can’t recommend Dan enough.

Prior to leaving for China, Dan provided a breakdown of documents I would need, how to procure them, and a step-by-step guide on how to attain my visa that would be necessary in China.

Thanks for the help Dan!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
So far, chicken feet! I’ve not been very adventurous as far as the food goes.
Pros
  • Good support
  • Gets you out there quick
  • Provided options as to where I wanted to go

Supportive and Professional Recruitment Experience

I worked with Dan Wharton during my job search and with his help I was fortunate enough to secure a role in Shanghai that perfectly aligns with the career path I was hoping for. With consistent communication, steady support and a deep knowledge of the Shanghai job market and culture, Dan made sure I was well-prepared for each stage of the interview process and in my eventual move to Shanghai.

It was an easy going, smooth experience and I would recommend Teach English Global to anyone exploring teaching opportunities in China!

Found First China Job Through Dan

If you were to exclusively listen to internet fora like Reddit, you might be given the demoralising impression that in 2025 it is: impossible to find a job in China without decades of experience; every recruiter in the market is a Grade A scammer; and that you should essentially give up on your ideas. Thankfully, through Dan, I found an exception to this.

When I reached out to Dan through his application form online, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had used seemingly countless agencies, most of which would regularly misspell my name, pressure me into accepting contracts that seemed highly dodgy, and would set me up with interviews that were frankly out of balance with my skill set and/or experience. So, my first conversation with Dan felt like a breath of fresh air. He asked me the usual questions (experience, motivation, intended start date) but seemed to actually try to pair those up with positions that were relevant for me. Within a week, I was having multiple interviews which appeared signficiantly more 'legimitate' than the dozen odd that I had had previously.

The best thing about working with Dan, though, isn't just his eagerness and efficiency in finding you a job: it's the support that comes afterwards. The visa process is, like all visa processes, mind-bogglingly bureacratic and perplexing. Dan talked me through every single step patiently through multiple phone calls, and would act as an efficient intermediary whenever something unfamiliar would appear in our group with the organisation that now employs me. Beyond just the job and the visa, Dan also provided extremely useful tips regarding what to pack, how to get through the intensity of the first few weeks, and even which flights would be the best value for money. Oh, and he helped me prepare for my interviews as well!

Even after getting to China, Dan would regularly check in with me on WeChat to see how things were going. Considering how many teachers Dan has helped through the same process, I frankly have no idea how he has the time to pay such care and attention- but I'm not complaining!

tl;dr: if you're serious about wanting to work in China, but are daunted by the entire process, reach out to Dan and you will have a uniquely smooth experience!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
The first job offer that Dan helped me secure was eventually something I decided to opt against for a multitude of reasons. I was expecting Dan to be annoyed and say 'ok cool cheers find another recruiter now' (as had been my previous experience with others). But nope! He immediately said that he understood, and we went straight on to finding something that would be a better fit. I was really impressed with his attitude and conduct in that scenario.
Pros
  • Attention to detail and knowledge of process
  • Friendliness, openness
  • Checking in with you every step of the way
