Great TEFL Company - service was excellent

I chose TEFL Institute’s 180‑hour Level 5 course because it felt like the perfect balance of quality, flexibility, and real‑world support. The platform is easy to navigate, the content is clear and practical, and every module is structured so you actually feel prepared to teach. What really stood out was the post‑course service, especially working with Lisa in the jobs department. She’s proactive, fast to respond, and genuinely invested in helping you find opportunities. I also really appreciated the wellness‑focused resources and mindset support they offer, which helped me stay motivated throughout the course. Between the solid curriculum, user‑friendly platform, and warm, human support from the team, TEFL Institute has set me up for success in a way that feels supportive from enrolment through job placement.

Pros
  • High‑quality, government‑regulated curriculum – The 180‑hour Level 5 course is externally validated, so employers take it seriously and the material feels genuinely job‑ready.
  • Supportive, human‑centred support team, from Lisa in the jobs department to the wellness‑focused resources, the team is responsive and clearly invested in your success beyond just the course.
  • User‑friendly, flexible online platform, the course layout is intuitive, easy to navigate, and works well around adult schedules, so you can study at your own pace without feeling lost.
Cons
  • Seriously None

Review for 180 hour level 5 TEFL Course and 10 hour Methodology class

Any interactions that I have had with those that work at TEFL have been positive and supportive. As soon as I email anyone with a question they get back to me within a day. Lisa has been one of those people that have gotten back to me quickly and given me additional options that hadn't even occurred to me which is what a great tutor does. The teacher that I had in my 10 hour methodology class was very engaging and the students were from many different backgrounds making the class more diverse and interesting.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I could do it all over again I would set a plan for myself on when I would do my classes so that I don't have to rush to complete the course.
Pros
  • It is completely on my own time
  • Everything that I need to do and is expected of me is laid out
  • The people working at TEFL are very responsive
Cons
  • The layout of the website is a bit cluttered
  • I struggled to find a time that was not in the middle of the night for the 10 hour course
  • I wish TEFL would check in with me more on how I am doing in the course

Extremely satisfied

I really enjoyed the experience.

This is a comprehensive course that added a value to my experience. Though I have experience in teaching English as a second language, I found this course valuable and mind refreshing. Above this, the certificate is credible and internationally recognised. It is really worth trying. One of the strengths of the program is its balance between theory and application. It does not remain at a purely theoretical level; instead, it encourages the practical implementation of strategies that can be directly transferred to real classroom contexts. The focus on engaging learners, adapting to different proficiency levels, and assessing student progress is particularly relevant for modern ESL/EFL teaching.

Excellent IELTS 30 Hour Course. Highly recommended!

I teach Russian students to speak English. They often have strong grammar but lack vocabulary and articulation. This IELTS course has given me a clear system to build confidence and improve their speaking skills in preparation for the dreaded IELTS Exams.

The course was thorough, and I gained practical strategies that benefit both my teaching and my students.

I also appreciated the prompt support from Lisa at the TEFL Institute in Cape Town—the entire process was seamless.

Highly recommend!!

What was your funniest moment?
Having to do a module quiz over because I did not submit. I only found this out when I couldn't proceed to the next module...
Pros
  • In-depth material
  • Easy to navigate the platform once I got the hang of it
  • Great feeling of accomplishment
Cons
  • The bot reading the material kept pronuncing 'read' (red) instead of 'read'
  • Proceeding to the next lesson, scroll up and use the arrow on the right. This could be clearer with 'Next Lesson in this module' button
  • Nothing else

Supported from the very beginning

My experience on the Thailand TEFL programme with The TEFL Institute of Ireland has genuinely been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From the very beginning, the support, structure, and guidance made the whole process feel manageable and not overwhelming, especially as someone moving abroad alone.

The 120 hour TEFL course itself was a huge part of that. The course was very practical and realistic. It covered everything from lesson planning, classroom management, student engagement, teaching methodology, grammar, pronunciation, and classroom structure. It also focused a lot on how to manage different learning levels in one classroom, how to keep students engaged, and how to structure lessons in a way that actually works in real life, not just on paper. As someone with no teaching background, this made a massive difference for me.

It didn’t just tell me how to teach English, it taught me how to manage a classroom, how to communicate clearly, how to build confidence as a teacher, and how to handle real classroom situations. When I arrived in Thailand and stepped into my first classroom, I wasn’t confident because I “knew everything”, but I was confident because I had a foundation to work from. I understood lesson structure, behaviour management, pacing, and how to adapt when things didn’t go exactly to plan. That preparation made the transition into teaching abroad feel far less intimidating and far more manageable.

The Thailand internship itself was incredibly well organised, from the orientation week in Bangkok to school placement and ongoing support. I’ve been teaching M1 and M2 students (ages 12 to 14), living in a local area outside of tourist zones, and experiencing real Thai daily life rather than just a tourist version of the country. The cost of living has been very affordable, the salary is more than enough to live comfortably, and saving money is completely possible if that’s a goal.

The friendships I’ve made with other teachers and the kindness of the local Thai community have been a huge part of my experience. I’ve built a real life here, not just a temporary stay. Teaching in Thailand has helped me grow in confidence, independence, and self belief in ways I never expected.

I received a full support system from the TEFL team, especially Lisa who helped me with getting prepared for my Thailand adventure. The team have made teaching abroad feel accessible, achievable, and exciting rather than intimidating. I couldn’t recommend The TEFL Institute of Ireland enough to anyone even remotely considering teaching abroad.

No complaints - extremely helpful staff

Completed the 180-hour Level 5 TEFL course online with the TEFL Institute and found it excellent: very well structured, easy to follow, and packed with practical content for teaching English abroad and online.

The learning platform was user-friendly, and the built‑in AI bot Merlin kept study sessions hilarious with some absolutely crazy jokes that really made me laugh. The TEFL support team were always quick to help, and after I finished, Lisa emailed a detailed breakdown of my TEFL job options, including how to apply and what steps to take next to teach English in Japan and other countries.

Pros
  • Very Professional
  • Tutors very knowledgeable and kind
  • Job service brilliant
Cons
  • None

The TEFL Institute was worth it.

Hi there, I just completed and received my 180hour TEFL Diploma. I'm so happy and very much excited to start my online career in teaching. The Tefl Institute is an amazing Institute to study through, when I was stuck during my 1st Assessment Jenny O' Sullivan, explained and outlined everything so well that I could understand exactly what I was doing and where I went wrong. Their weekly webinars are also very helpful especially if you are a first starter just like me. Thank you so much The TEFL Institute for the great service you provide, keep it up.

Pros
  • The quizzes were a great refresher
  • I liked the fact that I could always log out and log back in and my work was still all there.
  • The study content were relatable
Cons
  • Some of the study materials need more broader overview as I had to go Google for broader overview.
  • Some of the video content examples were a bit outdated
  • Add more video content examples to the modules

Good Course lot's of help

I have just completed the 180-hour Level 5 course, as well as the 30-hour Business English course. Honestly, both were extremely thorough and provided me with everything I needed to start my TEFL journey. The support team was always on it, help was literally just a click away, and the chat box was an excellent bonus for answers straight away, more than once. They even helped me to find a teaching job after completing the course, which was a significant bonus. I also took their free influencers course on their other platform, TEFL Explorer, which has some fantastic resources. I highly recommend The TEFL Institute to anyone considering getting certified!

A Career-Changing Program That Built My Confidence and Credibility

Let me share my experience. I was changing careers and felt completely out of my depth. Elaine was my first contact and she was so reassuring taking the time to explain how my existing skills could transfer to teaching. The course itself is rigorous which I appreciated. It's a proper Ofqual regulated qualification not some cheap certificate.

My assessor Jenny was fantastic offering critiques that were always constructive and aimed at making me a better educator. The platform's AI lesson planner was also a surprisingly useful tool for overcoming writer's block.

This program gave me the credibility and the confidence I needed.

Outstanding Support and Practical Learning Experience

I’ve honestly never experienced this level of dedication and support before. Every time I had a question, someone from the team was there to help right away — it really makes you feel valued as a learner. The platform is super easy to navigate, and the resources are detailed yet simple to follow. I also love how interactive the learning process is — it keeps me motivated to complete each module. The AI tools make planning, organizing, and coming up with creative ideas so much smoother. Highly recommend this course to everyone!
