You should T.E.I.K. with TEIK!

My husband (a public school teacher in the US) and I had wanted to teach abroad for a while. Search Associates was not an option for us since I was not a teacher before moving to Korea. Bradley and the TEIK team made moving abroad as a couple very easy. For a job placement in Aug/Sep, we contacted Bradley in Jan/Feb and promptly had a video call with him and interviews with 2 academies near Seoul. You don't have to prepare so far in advance (Bradley has many tricks on his website for expediting things), but you can check out TEIK's website even earlier for more info on the documents that you will need and the timeline for those. Bradley was super prompt when responding to our many questions, including many questions regarding my recent name change. We were able to get a very nice apartment, bigger than most since we are a couple, right next to our school. This is not a guarantee for all couples but overall TEIK was really great to work with as a couple moving abroad!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
The TEIK team organizes your flight arrangements, and I think it's okay if you need to ask for more options. The two flight options they sent us were okay, but one only allowed one free checked bag each, and the other had a very short layover. We ended up prioritizing the 2 free check bags option but we missed our second flight due to a delay on the first. It was rescheduled smoothly but I'm sure this could have been avoided if we asked their travel arranger to try to find another flight option. We were just very eager to finalize our details but remember that it is their job and they are happy to get you to Korea smoothly!
Pros

Cons
  • Your school might not have a solid training plan in place
  • You need to just roll with the punches when dealing with your Korean academy management :)
  • The students are worked VERY hard so be prepared for a rigorous curriculum

Suwon school

Bradley was very helpful in the search for a school for me and my wife. He highlighted the differences between small and large cities, and helped us settle on Suwon. I feel we are getting the large city experience without living in Seoul.
Overall, our experience has been overwhelmingly positive, largely due to Bradley’s dedication. If you're considering teaching English abroad, I highly recommend this program. It offers exceptional support and an enriching adventure in South Korea.
I recommend everyone to research their schools and get in contact with foreign teachers that work there before making a final decision.

Best Support and Easy Process!

I've been working at my school for a few months and it's been such an easy and fun process! It was really nice to have one person dedicated to helping me from start to finish through the process. Bradley has always provided fast and thorough responses, often anticipating questions before I could even ask them. He set up multiple interviews for me to shop around different jobs and provided all the information I could ask for to make the best decision for my wants/needs. After I chose a job TEIK helped with me through the entire visa process and sent over a packet to help aid me with the move. Everything has been very organized and easy. TEIK removed all the stress I had about starting this new adventure. I can't recommend them enough! I’m excited to attend the TEIK Fall hosted dinner next Saturday!!!

Wonderful Time in Korea

Working with Bradley and Yumi at TEIK was an absolute delight. I was nervous about moving to a different country and the process seemed intimidating, but TEIK made it all easy, smooth, and fast. Bradley and Yumi help you every step of the way and make everything as simple as possible.

Even after I was placed at my school as a teacher, they stayed available to help me with anything, even random questions about fun places to visit in Korea.

In addition, they host a networking event twice a year for all the new teachers that they've worked with, which is a godsend and allows you to make new friends in your new country. I'm literally at a bar drinking beer with Bradley right now!

I highly recommend TEIK to anyone considering teaching English in Korea!

Made coming to Korea so easy!!

I was really worried about moving to Korea and not being able to speak the language however Brad and TEIK made the experience so easy. He was so friendly and metaphorically held my hand through the whole process, every time I had a question he got back to me so quickly. He matched me with schools that suited me and I had one interview and accepted! I love teaching here in Korea it’s truly such a rewarding time as you feel like you are contributing to something so much bigger than yourself. And also there are so many fun things to do and eat here!

Great environment, Great support!

I had a fantastic experience with TEIK to secure an English teaching position in South Korea. Their expertise and guidance throughout the entire process were invaluable. They provided personalized support, from polishing my resume to preparing for interviews, ensuring I was well-prepared every step of the way. Thanks to their efforts, I landed my dream job and couldn't be happier with the outcome. I highly recommend TEIK to anyone seeking teaching opportunities abroad.

So fun!

This job has been so much fun I love it so much. If you like working with kids it will be the perfect job for you. It is so rewarding to see the students in your class grow and develop and how they look up to you. I also love my job outside of work, lots of partying, eating, and hiking. Working in a hagwon gives you a great comfortable introduction to Korea where you have other foreigners around you who can help as much (or as little) as you want. Giving you freedom to either set out on your own or enjoy a new country with no worry.

Teaching English in S. Korea

This is going on my 3rd year living in South Korea as an ESL instructor and it's still going great! I've even switched schools recently and the transition was smooth.

TEIK has been a great resource to get the help needed during my stay. I've recommended all my friends and coworkers to Brad and he has been a great help making them feel secure with the school selections.

If you're feeling insecure about anything work related as well as not work related, Brad is there to help you. He's just an email message away.

TEIK

Absolutely wonderful experience. Everything was so smooth and effortless. Yumi and Bradley do a wonderful job finding schools that fit what you are looking for. I made sure that they knew I wanted schools that would allow me to bring my dog and every interview I had, they let me know that they knew I wanted to bring my dog and they were completely okay and would accommodate. Honestly would not go through any other recruiter. I had 4 interviews within a week of speaking with Yumi and Bradley and in the areas I requested.

Better than I've Had

I worked at previous academies in Korea that were just not always the best. I experienced racism, poor pay and some bad conditions. However, coming to this new academy through TEIK was much better than my first experience in Korea. The job pays much better. The workload is the usual with less stakes involved compared to before and Bradley has been very helpful in making the process very helpful! I would recommend his program the most. I even got my friend to speak with Bradley about a placement and he enjoyed speaking with him!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Dealing with my background check being denied so much was stressful but with the confidence and help of Bradley and my director, I was able to get everything working so I could arrive in Korea on time.
