I don’t want to go home!

Hey Brad.

It's definitely been an adjustment process. but I think we're done walking around with our mouths open amazed at our surroundings and trying to recover from jetlag. Thank you so much for this opportunity and for placing Phil and me! The school has been treating us very well. I'm in kindergarten and Phil is upstairs teaching the older kids.
Since we have such different schedules, they've agreed to put us in separate apartments, which is great for us. Actually, the assistant director is taking us out to Costco tonight in Seoul so we can get stocked on the necessities...cool lady. The whole staff has been wonderful in showing us around and making sure me feel comfortable and at home.

Talk soon bro! Pat Brown, Bucheon City, Gyeonggido

Pros
  • COSTCO, Homeplus
  • Emart
  • Korean street-food
Cons
  • Soju is cheap and everywhere…lol

Exploring Korea one weekend at a time.

Hey Brad

Thanks so much for setting Leela and me up here in Nonhyun dong, Incheon. It is really nice to be here and we have settled in very nicely. We have a wonderful little apartment which is working out just fine. There is a nice gym that we joined right nearby, which is perfect for the winter times. Our director is a very nice guy, and we are really enjoying the work. Working with the kids is the most rewarding aspect of our work. The students are fun and it is nice to work with a smile on my face. The neighborhood is very fun to explore, and there are also some nice native teachers working at a school close to ours. You have been so helpful throughout this whole process, both before and during. I look forward to meeting up with you next time you come to Incheon.

Thanks Brad,
Rob C.

Pros
  • Love the food and cheap!
  • Friendly people
  • Respectful students
Cons
  • I have to go to Itaewon for good Mexican food

Korea is a great place to live, work, and is super safe.

I know it's been awhile since I've contacted you. I can't believe seven months have passed so quickly. It's been a wild ride. There have been several ups and a few downs, but all have been great learning lessons. My daughter Madison has enjoyed the experience as well. The language has been more difficult to learn than expected, but part of the problem has been that have kept so busy with home-schooling, traveling to Thailand and China, and all over Korea, volunteering at an orphanage, and working on TEFL certification.
Loved the work you did for me and my daughter in obtaining my first contract and in helping to sort out a few problems with my school and apartment. The kids are really amazing and I love working with them. I've enjoyed the area I've been living in, but would like to try another area and I look forward to working with you again to find my next position.
Thanks much,
Samantha Jenkins. Bucheon City, Gyeonggido

Pros
  • Bucheon is close to Seoul
  • Cheap cost of living
  • Travel opportunities

Teaching in Korea is not what I was expecting, but in a good way…😊

I had a general idea of what to expect when I chose to come to Korea to teach English, but the actual experience is far different from anything you could imagine. Whatever your goal in your stay, it can be easily accomplished, while gaining more that you might not realize until reflection.

I would highly recommend establishing what you want from your experience, listing what you need to make your stay the best possible, and utilizing agents like Brad Brennan who have been there themselves, and are making themselves open to help you get the most out of your time abroad. Once you make the decision, I can guarantee it will not be one you will regret.

Pros
  • Uijeongbu is close to Seoul, but not too close.
  • Great food, cheap soju/beer/food. Chimek!
  • National Universal Healthcare!!!
Cons
  • Not many

Daegu is hot in the summer, lol!

Hey, Brad, Greetings from Daegu! It's been one month so far and I absolutely love my job. The management staff here is awesome and they're incredibly friendly. Even the schools that I work at are fun and the kids are so damn cute. Thank you so much for helping me land this gig. Sorry this is so short, but I have to do a little lesson planning before meeting my friend's downtown for a few drinks. I'll definitely keep in touch, and I'll definitely recommend your company to anyone I meet who's interested in coming over here. It's an adventure I know that I'll never forget.

Thanks again,
Sean Hinojosa, Daegu

P.S. - I've attached a pic of me and my advanced class from my Elementary public school. The girls were a little camera shy, as most 6th grade girls are, but I managed to get most of them. Lol.

Pros
  • Daegu has a tight expat community
  • Daegu is close to Busan, Gwangju and Gyeongju
Cons
  • Daegu is 2 hours from Seoul by KTX
  • Miss home sometimes, but having fun

Seoul is so fun to work/live in and quite the adventure!

Hey Brad,

Things are pretty good here and I think I've finally settled in. From what I understand, after talking to many teachers in the area, I realized that you placed me in a really good school. The teachers here are all cool and supportive. The kids...they're a handful at times but are pretty enjoyable overall. I've included a picture of me and my class on a field trip for your website. I'm going to Cambodia at the end of July after my contract finishes. When are you coming to back to Korea from your vacation? I'd like to grab a beer with you when you get back.

Scott Henderson,
Seoul, Korea

Pros
  • Always something going on
  • Bustling
  • Vibrant
Cons
  • Seoul is expensive and so crowded

Quick and Responsive

I sent Brad an email in response to a posting for a job in Korea and he responded right away. We scheduled a call right away and he focused on my needs and priorities for a position. During that first call he connected me right away to a hagwon owner and we conducted the interview immediately. Throughout the whole process of arriving to Korea he was always quick to reply and answer emails. He connected to unique academy where I've been challenged and have already learned so much. I recommend using this program!

Pros
  • Replied Quickly to emails
  • Good network of schools
  • Long time experience placing teachers
Cons
  • Can feel a little fast paced
  • Options available depending on time of year
  • Experience can vary

South Korea Expat Life

It's really important to have support when making such a drastic shift in your life, and Bradley helped so much in the process. He responded promptly to questions that arose and helped guide me through the interview process. It's essential to state what it is you're looking for, and if you don't know, Bradley can help you sort through options. The paperwork and visa process can feel overwhelming, but you'll have the guidance and support you need. Bradley is really available to help all the way until the end!

Pros
  • Immersion into a brand new culture while having a steady job and income
  • Travel and exploration
  • Incredible food! The cafe culture is fabulous:)
Cons
  • Can be lonely at times and frustrating
  • Completely new language and culture
  • I miss my cat, BUT you can bring your cat or dog, I just opted not to.

Teaching EIK

This is going to be my 2nd year living in South Korea as an ESL instructor and it's been pretty good so far. Coming from a professional background in Data to teaching English to young children has been an interesting experience. I've never worked with children, but they grow on you. ^^

With the help from TEIK, the transition was pretty smooth and helpful. Brad has been pretty dope in helping me feel secure with the school selections and was always there to give advice about job related issues as well as non job related issues.

Pros
  • Free housing
  • Livable salary
  • Great advice and assistance
Cons
  • Depending on where you're placed, small accommodation
  • Air quality
