Upskill in the coolest little capital.

Interning in Wellington was a fantastic experience! It's a very compact city, easy to get around by public transport, walking and hire a scooter! It's a very hilly city which means you're never too far from a view. The work scene in Wellington is fascinating with social enterprise, national headquarters and public sector work all bustling along side each other. I got to work in one of the coolest co-working spaces in the heart of the CBD with easy access to the waterfront and hundreds of amazing eating places. Being geographically central to New Zealand it's easy to get away for the weekend to Auckland or the beautiful South Island. Intern NZ were great at checking in with me, and organised numerous gatherings for interns to meet each other and mingle, most involved Wellington exclusive activities.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
The airport is super easy to get to and super easy to navigate inside, so take advantage and definitely get out and see New Zealand!

PLACEMENT AND STARTING OF NEW INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Hello
I am Amarjot and perusing Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Auckland Institute of Studies in New Zealand. I came to contact with Intern NZ through my college for the placement as an intern. When I received a call from this organization, we discussed the requirements and field of internship. they offered me best companies where I can go for my internship and I chose the one out of that which is most suitable for me from every aspect. While in processing, my college declined my this internship first and then intern NZ helped me to sorted out everything and finally I started my internship with my choice of company. I am really thankful to that co coordinator who helped me a lot and now I am gaining New Zealand's work experience and accounting practices, which will help me to get a good job in future.

Very good for spending some time abroad!

I would recommend this programme to anyone who wants to spend some time abroad! World Internships and Intern New Zealand have helped me through all the stage of the processes, preparing me for everything to come. The staff has been very nice and helpful, they always answered very quickly and checked on my progress regularly. You could come to them with any question that arose! They even wanted regular updates on things they were not responsible for. So for example I organised my own housing and they still made sure everything was set up for my arrival.
The company they found for me is very nice with a young, innovative team.
Generally speaking, I already felt at home before I even got here! I absolutely love it! It's definitely worth the extra money!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I met a guy from my little village back home at our orientation meeting. We basically grew up together but hadn't talked for the past years and now we met again via Intern NZ - absolutely crazy! Welcome to the Global Village!

Review as Lab assistant

I came here from Germany over the Company Experiment and was directly told a Meeting day with Intern NZ. They directly gave me a great overview for the City of Auckland, where I am staying, and helped me as good as possible when I got sick, even checking on me afterward. Additionally, they sent regular E-Mails which not only checked how things are going and informed me about personal change on their side. I do not know how far they were involved aboout getting my internship and Living place as they were done by Experiment. But the fact that they are linked with the companies from different states only speaks for them. If you want to come to New Zealand with a friendly, personal and caring community, who give you possible activities, I can only recommend them.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
It was a a Donutburger with Putine and worked good.

Recruitment internship - Intern NZ

As I explained them really clear what I was looking, Intern NZ found me a perfect opportunity within recruitment.
I joined a really nice team so I had both a good professional experience and a really good time at work.
I learned a lot of skills that are going to help me being one step ahead others when I'll look for a job anywhere in the world in the future.
By joining the weekend trip to Taupo I met other interns who became really good friends of mine and I spent a lot of time with them here in Auckland.
We did trips and hikes together, I went to play volleyball once a week with one of my friends, went out for dinner, partied together.
It is so nice to get to know people from all around the world and I m really greatfull for that
I'm really thankful for this whole experience, I learned a lot about myself as well as I gained a lot of experience. Best of both worlds!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I went skydiving, while I always told everyone I would never ever do that in my life.

Once in a lifetime!

I'm currently interning with ZEALANDIA in Wellington and this opportunity is once in a lifetime! This place is amazing, I have amazing coworkers and every day is different and provides a new challenge. I'm learning more about NZ native flora and fauna every single day and the time I am spending here is invaluable! This internship is giving a wider world knowledge to improve my overall picture of conservation. I can't testify to the housing programme as I found my own accommodation but other interns have told me it is good you are with other students and people of a similar age. I also really like that Intern NZ OZ puts you in touch with the other interns in your area so you can socialise and get to know one another outside work! I'm a month in and can't wait for the next 5!

What would you improve about this program?
Maybe the level of contact before arrival. As I only took the bronze package I did not have a huge amount of communication with the team and this would have panicked me had I not had a friend doing a similar internship with them in Australia.

Research Graduation internship, Melbourne

The Graduation internship that Internnzoz found for me is perfect. I have the freedom to do my research within the company. I gained knowledge, skills and improved my English. All this is useful for my further carrier. The internship company want to help internship interns with providing a good work environment and also the interns have the possibility to change some of the work processes. During my internship started several interns as well, so during the weekends or after work, we hang out.
Australia is a lovely and beautiful country for doing your internship or to travel. I would recommend Melbourne to do your internship because every day there are several events and the nightlife is great too.
The pros of InternNZOZ is the fast communication and they found fast a proper internship company.

What would you improve about this program?
To improve the program: I would recommend to help finding a accomodation. I did this on my own and it was really hard to find one.

Amazing Experience

I have been able to spend the past several weeks in Dunedin, NZ doing a pharmacology research internship at the University of Otago in the Pharmacology and Toxicology Department. Everyone in the program at the school is incredible and willing to take the time to help us learn. They are very patient and more than happy to take any questions. Additionally, everyone has been helpful in giving tips about what areas are the best to explore as well as all the best places to eat, grab a cup of coffee, etc. We have met some incredible people and I LOVE the city of Dunedin. It's so unique and there's actually a lot of must see areas here. My personal favorites have been Tunnel Beach (surprisingly not far from the main city), the Botanic Gardens, and the Town Belt. It's been so much fun wandering around and trying all of the coffee here too. So far my favorite cafes have been The Good Oil, The Governor's Cafe, and Modak's. They all have something slightly different to offer but they're all places I suggest people go if they're in Dunedin. Additionally, there are plenty of fun little shops to pop into to look for souvenirs or just to waste time. The Otago Museum and the Settler's Museum are both good areas to learn some local history and just to learn, in general. On Saturday mornings there's a farmer's market outside of the Train Depot that runs from about 8 am to 12 pm. It has a lot of fun vendors and good food/coffee trucks. I would definitely suggest an extended weekend in Queenstown if possible. It was an amazing little town with lots of great food, beautiful hiking, and a lovely beach along the lake. There are a lot of thrill-seeking activities to participate in there including bungee jumping, sky diving, parasailing, boat rides, luge rides, etc. It's a great outdoor mecca!
As far as helpful tips go, I would for sure bring a GOOD pair of shoes. The city of Dunedin is pretty walkable and there's a lot of neat places to explore if you are happy to walk. There is decent enough public transportation though, if you're more interesting in purchasing the GoCard and getting around via bus. If you're coming during spring or fall, the weather is VERY changeable. I have been here during springtime and it has ranged from beautiful, hot and sunny days to COLD, overcast, rain or even slightly snowy days. Always be ready for rain too. Many times we've gone out in the morning to a blue and sunny sky only to leave the campus and it be raining and windy. Just be prepared. Try to plan to go shopping at one of the local grocery stores (Pak N Save or Countdown are close to where we've been staying and Pak N Save tends to be a little cheaper). Eating out for every meal is not very feasible when you're here for so many weeks and prices tend to be a bit high, however, the exchange rate does work in favor of US money.
As far the impact this program has held on my future endeavors, well, there's a lot. I am nearly done with pharmacy school in the United States and I certainly have plans for what I hope to do there but I have a renewed interest in working in a lab. I used to do cell culture in undergrad and I now wish I could continue to do it after practicing again here. Who knows, maybe I'll end up working on a PhD in Pharmacology in the future ;-).

What would you improve about this program?
Honestly, this program has been incredible. We've learned a lot and we've been able to explore and really get to know the area we're in. I don't think I could ask for anything more.

Intern NZ, Auckland, Admin

I started my internship in April 2018 and it was for three months in a role of an Admin. My experience with Intern NZ was positive and I found the staff very helpful and polite. I am thankful to Intern NZ for guiding me rightly in selecting the suitable field of internship for me. This internship program also helped me to receive a job offer.
I had great fun during the social events organised by Intern NZ where I able to meet interns coming from different countries and I made good friends. Especially the experience of a weekend trip to New Plymouth & the Waikato Glow-worm caves was amazing. After the internship, I am surely missing the social meets and fun time with them.
For the future participants, New Zealand is the most beautiful country and I would highly recommend to all those who are looking forward to an internship should consider Intern NZ for the internship process.
