Fantastic 4 weeks in Cadiz with Centro MundoLengua

Our 10th grade daughter had a fabulous experience with Centro MundoLengua this summer, spending 4 weeks in Cadiz. Her Spanish improved hugely, she stayed with an amazing host family, was fully immersed in the culture with extra activities and experiences, all organized by dedicated instructors.
This is a smaller program which had many benefits - including the fact that the program administrators are very responsive and helpful with questions. This included whilst our daughter was in Spain. She and we felt very supported throughout.
We hope she will return next summer to visit a different location, with her sister.

Pros
  • Great language instruction
  • Super fun - many extra activities to experience the culture and immerse in the Spanish language
  • Very responsive to questions and queries - including during the trip

Best semester abroad in Sevilla!!

MundoLengua is a fabulous program and I can't recommend it enough! My university in the United States has a longstanding partnership with MundoLengua and many of my friends that had been on the semester program in Sevilla with them had amazing things to say about the program wish is why I decided to go. I can confidently say MundoLengua lived up to those expectations and even exceeded them. I just got back from my 4 month study abroad program in Sevilla, Spain with MundoLengua and I can't say enough good things about the program. The staff was welcoming, attentive, friendly and helped us with all of our questions and concerns. We got to know many of the staff members on a personal basis. Throughout the course of the program, the MundoLengua staff had great communication with us and made sure we were all doing okay throughout the program. We had many activities organized by MundoLengua including weekly activities in Sevilla and then weekend excursions to Madrid and Granada throughout the semester. MundoLengua takes great care of all their participants and goes above and beyond to ensure everyone is having a great time. They made our transition to classes in Sevilla and living in homestays very seamless and helped us with anything we needed throughout the process. Anyone that does a MundoLengua program will be in great hands and I couldn't recommend their programs enough!

Pros
  • Amazing staff
  • Organized activities and excursions each week
  • Great living situation

Language Immersion in Sevilla: I am in love with Sevilla and I blame Centro Mundo Lengua!

am so pleased that I dedicated 2 weeks of a 2 month adventure in Spain to come to Sevilla and join the Centro Mundo Lengua family in order to improve Spanish and try to immerse myself in the culture, history, food, and people of Sevilla. The support of this creative, energetic, genuine team was central to these wonderful weeks. The teaching of language with some grammar and vocabulary but especially discussions in Spanish about culture, history and politics and the rhythms of life was both interesting and effective at helping me hear and try to speak spanish. As a beginning student I felt that I made significant progress under the guidance of my teacher and the center. The team maintained an ideal balance between offering ideas and providing space for us to explore on our own. They were flexible and understanding of the needs of visitors to Sevilla who want to explore the city as much as learn the language in classes! In my case, they helped me find truly challenging and immersive experiences ranging from a Flamenco Dance lesson, to cooking classes, to special tours of important sites (the best ones were offered by Antonio himself!!). The weeks were punctuated by spontaneous and planned outings for Coffee or Tapas or Wine Tastings that some of the CML facilitated or joined. (As a solo traveler this time, the social times were especially fun and meaningful and it is absolutely the case that all at CML are such friendly and resourceful and effective team-members that helped to make each day truly delightful.) I would not hesitate to encourage others to explore CML and Sevilla for all it has to offer– travelers, schools, teachers, students… anyone who wants to learn and have fun at the same time!

Pros
  • Well connected program staff who can offer ideas and help you pursue your own!
  • Very knowledgeable experts in culture and history of Spain (especially Sevilla)
  • Attentive staff and teammates who guide effectively and are utterly accomodating and fun individuals.

Centro Mundo Lengua

I had the best experience of my life studying abroad in Cadiz, Spain with Centro Mundo Lengua. It was an adventure of a lifetime! I was able to do amazing things that I never imagined of doing and was able to meet amazing people along the way. One of my most memorable moments was when they took us to La Alhambra in Granda. It was such an incredible experience being there and learning so much about the history with the best tour guide; a dream! I wish I can go back and live everything once again.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
One thing I wish I could do over again is not be too afraid to get lost. I was afraid in the beginning so I didn’t explore as much. I would just jump into the adventure of getting lost and explore as much as possible!

INCREDIBLE PROGRAM, PLACE, & PEOPLE

I truly don’t know where to start in talking about Centro MundoLengua and the truly life-changing experiences I have had with them in Spain. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God directed me to these specific people, this program, and this place—Seville. I first went to Seville in 2020 as an independent student on a gap year, and through Centro MundoLengua I was able to take classes with a college study-abroad group that was there for a semester in Seville. All the classes were taught in Spanish, which is exactly what I wanted/needed to achieve my goal of leaving with fluency. Centro MundoLengua also allowed me to participate in all of the extracurricular activities that the college students had, such as flamenco shows, tapas dinners, bike rides around the city, and even a trip to Morocco, which was such a neat experience! I took private Spanish conversation/grammar lessons as well, and Emi, the teacher, was so friendly, so helpful, and tailored to each class specifically to my current questions or needs, even if that was simply spending an hour talking about life in Spanish! The classes with the college students were taught by Auxi and Antonio, both of whom have become valued friends of mine, and I learned so much about the culture and history of Seville and Spain at large through them. Antonio’s classes walking around the city were so refreshing and he brings the content to life in a way that is truly enjoyable and memorable. Auxi’s bright smile, attentive spirit, and broad knowledge makes every class lovely and productive. My couple months in Spain in 2020 were truly transformative for me and filled me with a new confidence, new capabilities, broadened perspective, and rich inspiration for life, the Spanish language, travel, and meaningful relationships. Centro MundoLengua organized a home-stay for me with a host-family, and this was probably the very biggest blessing of all from the trip. My host family was incredible. I don’t even have words to accurately describe it. They truly, truly welcomed me into their home and family—a single mother and her two daughters. I kept in close contact with them even after I returned to the US, and in 2021 I came back to Seville to stay with them again, take classes with MundoLengua, as well as studio art and cooking in other local studios. I have a Spanish family now, that I love so much. We FaceTime all the time and we’re planning for them to come to California and stay with my family here! Seville feels like my home-base in Europe now. The city is so culturally rich, not to mention beautiful. If you’re wanting to be surrounded and immersed in the language and history, Seville is the best place in Spain to do it, I would argue. Home of tapas, Flamenco, bullfighting, the river Guadalquivir, and much more, it would be hard to find a more authentically Spanish destination.

I have to take a moment to talk about Yaye, who was the one who organized all the trip details, answered all questions, was constantly available, checking in on me, and overseeing my program both times, in 2020 and in 2021. She has become a dear friend, whose radiant heart and warmth I admire to much. Ughhhh I just love these people and this place so much. Everyone who works at Centro MundoLengua has a heart for service, and they are real. They care about you as a person, and they care about the place they live and the job they are doing. I cannot recommend them enough! David, the founder, who I got the pleasure of knowing, has started such a blessing of a company that I will forever be thankful for. Centro MundoLengua is very unique from other study abroad/immersion programs. Many feel corporate, generic, cold, and formulaic. Like they just pump students in and out on a conveyer belt. Centro MundoLengua is the exact opposite of that. It is so personable, so tailored to your specific needs/desires, and you will leave your experience feeling like part of their family. I 100% plan to be back again as soon as I’m able. If you’re unsure about wether or not to go to Spain and which program you should go with, let me tell you... Go! And go with Centro MundoLengua! You will never regret it, you will make memories that last a lifetime, and your heart will be touched by the kindness of those who work there.

Cadiz review

I had a great summer in Cadiz through centro mundolengua. I greatly improved my Spanish and got to see a LOT of Spain. Cadiz is a beautiful city and after class we were able to go on the beach, which was very nice. I’d recommend it to everyone. The restaurants are great and the train rides to other cities are not very long and also provide a lot of scenery along the way. The teachers at the university are very passionate and truly care about helping their students. The university of Cadiz is also a really beautiful school

Cadiz

I fell in love with this city the moment I got there! The people were so welcoming and excited to talk to you. It is such a wonderful place to practice Spanish and learn about a new culture in the classroom and outside the classroom. The climate is amazing and the beaches were unreal. We got to see so many wonderful sights and do so many awesome cultural activities like cooking, surfing, and dance lessons. I would go back in a heart beat because it honestly was one of the greatest experiences of my life.

Fantastic semester!!

I loved my time studying abroad with Centro Mundolengua! They are very meticulous planners and take care of every detail so that their students have a fun and stress-free time away from home (planning trips, coordinating classes, giving metro cards, checking on homestays, etc). My Spanish improved immensely from living with a host family and studying at Universidad Pablo de Olavide. I definitely plan on returning to Spain.

Great Experience

I participated in an individual program oriented around community service for three weeks. It was a wonderful experience-- the staff at Mundolengua are so kind and supportive. They were also willing to accommodate my busy summer schedule and unique requests, which is hard to find in a summer program. I´m happy to have worked with such a great organization, and I would definitely recommend it to any high schooler looking to go abroad individually.

Summer in Cadiz turned into Life in Spain!

I absolutely loved my experience with Centro Mundolengua's (CML) Summer Intensive program in Cadiz! I spent three weeks taking classes at the University of Cadiz, living with a host family, and improving my Spanish language fluency. I was most thankful for how amazing CML was and how it felt like being part of a family and not just as an individual study abroad student. Cadiz is the perfect place to be during the summer in Spain - you have the beach and the sun, not to mention the warm and welcoming people of Cadiz all around you. I met some amazing friends in Cadiz that summer and we are still friends today! If it wasn't for studying abroad through CML, I wouldn't have had the courage to come back to Spain for a full semester program through CML later on in my college years. And because of all my experiences, I decided to move to Spain and now live here full time! I couldn't imagine my life today without the first step of studying abroad in Cadiz back in 2013.
