An Adventure of a Lifetime!!

I learned so much about Thai culture and elephants, but I also got to learn about myself as I pushed myself out of my comfort zone!! The tour guides, food, adventures, and mahoots were great. The guides knew how to handle any injury throughout the entire trip. All meals were delicious and included with the trip. There was enough down time so you didn't feel completely drained. This trip gave me the opportunity to experience something that many tourist traveling wouldn't have the chance to do. Thank you Give!

Pros
  • Guides are well-trained for emergencies
  • Food is great
  • Not many tourist get the opportunity to have this same experience
Cons
  • Cliques can be formed
  • AC isn't always available
  • Your clothes likely will smell

Greatest experience of my life! - GIVE Tanzania

This organization is very serious about their mission and is extremely reputable in terms of giving back to the community and using resources that directly benefit the communities we encounter. The itinerary for 2 weeks fit in so many amazing experiences and everything was planned so perfectly down to a T. The guides are super helpful and knowledgeable about Tanzania. You experience this culture and learn so much like nothing I have ever seen before, it is extremely impactful and they do everything the right way. I left this trip believing I made a true lasting impact that was all around good. This trip changed my life and I recommend to ANYONE who wants to experience something like this.

Pros
  • Cultural immersion
  • Community engagement
  • Personal growth
Cons
  • Amount of time for travel (not organizations fault just distance!)
  • More free time
  • More time to spend there in general!

GIVE Tanzania 2023 Group 7

I had no expectations coming into this and came out very passionate about the work that we had done. I saw an incredible sense of community and respect from the people of Kairo of which I will take into my everyday life. Seeing people with less than I be happier and kinder to eachother than most people I know was eye opening. I want to live my life that way and give back to those less fortunate. It’s now my new passion to be part of GIVE and what they do so that I can spread their mission to people around me.

Pros
  • 24/7 support from guides
  • Amazing excursions
  • Global impact
Cons
  • Not as much time to get to know the locals

Thailand

As a kid I travelled quite a bit, but none was like the experience I had with GIVE. Being able to travel with like-minded people is such an amazing feeling being able to give back to the community while fully emerging with the culture and the unique experiences the local guides are able to give you is such a blessing. We were taken to many remote villages that you would not easily be able to visit without this program, we saw some of our guides homes and were taken there by bamboo raft. Being able to connect and teach the local kids refuels my soul like I never thought it would. Experiencing a cultural dinner was one of the sweetest moments in my life. Being able to see and touch elephants my favorite animal for the first time in my life! Volunteering and learning so much on the permaculture farm, I didn’t think I would enjoy so much that even began making a sustainable garden at my own home when i got back! And facing our fears as a group and bunjee jumping on our last day there! The entire trip is an adventure one that you leave with happiness inside for months and years to come after! I highly recommend going on a GIVE trip at least once in your life!!

Pros
  • Making connections you would never get to make
  • Experiencing many adventures that wouldn’t be plausible on your own
  • Giving back and learning to travel sustainably as a global citizen

Loved this program!!

GIVE opened my eyes to a community of likeminded individuals who crave adventure, self-growth, knowledge, and human connection. The staff could not have been more encouraging, supportive and accommodating. The Thailand program introduced me to permaculture practices that sped up the production of healthy food for school students, ethical elephant tourism practices, Buddhism practices and so much more. I do not have one bad thing to say about my experience. The bungee jumping was also an amazing experience that I wouldn’t have been able to do without my wonderful group encouraging me.

Pros
  • Supportive environment
  • safe way to try new things
  • food, elephants, caves
Cons
  • None
  • Go on the trip
  • Travel with GIVE!

GIVE Review!

This trip was fabulous. All of the guides were amazing in helping us learn and assisting us in anyway we needed. We got to have so much fun while making an impact on our āina (land) and seeing the difference we were making. The friendships we all made on this trip are so valuable and pure. The memories that we made and get to have together will always be treasured. Learning about a new culture while helping protect that was something really special and i hope that everyone gets a chance to experience that.

Pros
  • Making new friends
  • Experiencing a new culture
  • Making an impact in peoples lives
Cons
  • Not many food options/variety
  • Not much free time to go to the beach or go hang in town
  • Packing list didn’t tell everything that volunteers thought we needed

Zanzibar experience with GIVE

I had an amazing time in Zanzibar with Give! It was extremely well organized and had so much to do. It allowed me to truly make a difference and see new cultures, which I really appreciate. Engaging with the local community was incredible and really allowed me to learn about new cultures firsthand. The activities were engaging and the balance between volunteering and other activities was really good. Would definitely recommend this program to anyone wanting to volunteer abroad and who wants to make an impact on the community.

Pros
  • Engaging
  • See more of the world
  • Meet new people
Cons
  • Expensive

Best experience of my life!

Traveling to Laos with GIVE was a very positive and impactful experience! I was blown away by the hospitality and love the people of Sop Chen showed us immediately upon arrival! I’m grateful for the chance to learn from the locals in Sop Chem and support and empower their community. The guides were clearly passionate about this program and very organized. They taught us about global citizenship and sustainable travel, which are things I’ll continue to practice in the future. There was a good balance between volunteering time (English education and permaculture), adventure activities, and free time. This trip was a great way to connect with like-minded people! I can’t possibly sum up the most wonderful 4 weeks of my life into one review, but I strongly encourage anyone who is hesitant about traveling with GIVE to take the leap of faith… you’ll be so glad you did! I just left Southeast Asia, and I already can’t wait to go back!

Pros
  • Supportive and kind staff
  • Meet like-minded people
  • Learn from the locals
Cons
  • Leaving :(

Great experience

This was an amazing experience to get really involved in a culture I had little knowledge about before going. They did a wonderful job teaching us about the country (museum about bombs), villagers and their way of living (this includes a Homestay for a night). The food was great and of a good variety from local people. We even got to do a cooking class that was of local cuisine. The guides were super nice and approachable. Teaching children English was a unique challenge that was rewarding in the end. Overall would do it again.

Pros
  • Homestay
  • Emersion into culture
Cons
  • No service
