Review UNYP

UNYP is a solid choice if you want an international vibe in Prague. The classes are small, so you actually get to know your professors, and most of them have real-world experience. Some classes are super engaging, others… not so much. The campus is tiny—don’t expect a big university feel—but the city makes up for it. Student life is what you make of it. There are some clubs and events, but most of the fun happens outside of school. Prague itself is a dream—cheap beer, stunning views, and so much to explore. The student body is super diverse, so you meet people from everywhere.

Academically, it’s more about practical learning than hardcore theory. If you hustle, you can land internships, and the career services are actually helpful. Tuition isn’t crazy compared to the U.S. or U.K., but for Prague, it’s on the pricier side. Still, if you want an American-style education in Europe, it’s a good deal.

Overall, UNYP is what you make of it. If you’re social, proactive, and take advantage of the city, it’s a great experience. If you want an international crowd, decent education, and an amazing city to explore, it’s worth considering.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Be open-minded and ready for anything! This program is what you make of it—say yes to new experiences, explore beyond the usual tourist spots, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Get to know the locals, try the food (even the weird stuff), and embrace the cultural differences. Also, budget wisely—some things are cheaper than expected, but others can surprise you. Lastly, take tons of pictures but don’t forget to actually live in the moment. You won’t regret it!
Pros
  • amazing cultural experience
  • opportunity to meet people from all over
  • classes are interactive and engagin
Cons
  • tuition
  • Bureaucracy can be slow (visa stuff, admin tasks, etc.), so be patient

UNYP review

I really liked the orientation week in the first semester. The way we met older students who helped us socialize, took us out and just in general introduced us to a oot of people was really nice. The boat ride was also really good and interesting way to meet people. I also like the way student councel organizes events even though it is much less then when i got here 2 years ago but that is depending on the people who are organizong it and you can tell the ones that are there now are not trying much.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
In my first semester I socialized a lot with exchange students instead of full time students which was bummer when they left.
Pros
  • fun
  • group projects
  • friends
Cons
  • some professors
  • short breaks for lunch especially
  • not enought food options

University Experience

University of New York in Prague gives you a great studying experience and university student life. Our school offers not only a broad range of classes but a great number of outside activities. UNYP has always a space for support, if anything goes wrong they will do everything in their power to make it right. This school is not trying to fail you, but to help you grow. Which is something, I don't see in other universities. The time-schedule of our semesters is also rare in Czech, as we have a one-month break after our fall semester. So students have time to go back to their families and don't stress about exams.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Don't be scared to make friends, the International Friends Club is here to make your experience unforgettable. Go out, try new things, and ask questions. No one here is going to judge you.
Pros
  • international friends
  • proffesional proffesors
  • not-stressful environment

Unyp review

I like the dual degree idea as well as the overall social life. The program lets you achieve both European and American standard education. Which is rare and usually takes one over 4 years to complete two so-called diplomas in the span of like I already mentioned 4 years. You get to explore the field of interest in depth and also introduce yourself to different cultures, and styles of teaching and you can also learn different languages as this program allows you to pick a language of choice and learn it up to level A2.

Unyp review

Overall UNYP is a great school, it’s fun and yeh teachers are really nice and ready to help you and make good programs in order for you to understand the classes. It is amazing that we get to meet new people and the uni also organizes events for new people to meet but also events where we can all get together in order to spend more time, like for example a ski trip. The classes over all are interesting and the teachers always try their best to get in contact with the students and they always look out for them too, making it a safe space

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My future advice for them is to take every possibility you have cause it will be worth it
Pros
  • New people
  • New experiences
  • New cultures

Beautiful city, great university!

Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and UNYP is a great school to extend your knowledge. They offer a wide range of great interesting courses. The students are social, open and always in for a fun day or night out!

What would you improve about this program?
You have to find your own housing. At the UNYP website, there 'Accommodation Options', but those are all student dormitories quit some travelling distance away from the city centre. It would be great if they would offer you some help finding housing closer to the university and the city centre (maybe some tips and tricks, official websites for renting apartments).

university of new york was a great experience

I had a great semester at university of new york in prague as an exchange student. I would have loved to extend it further but it didn't had my major which is finance. The professors were great and the school was international where you had the chance to interact with multicultural student and this was a beneficial factor.
