About Program

This four-week International Summer School programme runs from 8th July - 6th August and will give you a wide range of new skills, help develop your international networks, and will also give you the opportunity to experience all London has to offer!

The programmes can be used to build on your knowledge of an existing subject or to study something completely new. Whichever course you choose, you’ll gain a fresh perspective on your studies. Studying abroad will broaden your outlook and bring your learning to life.

The UEL International Summer School offers access to valuable knowledge and experience in a wide range of fields. At the end of your course you will receive a certificate of attendance and UK credits transferable to your home university (selected modules only). You will also have access to a powerful network of international students and academics. All classes are small, friendly and interactive - so you’ll gain the maximum benefit from your studies.

You can choose from the following exciting courses:
>London Financial Markets - This course gives you the opportunity to study the economic functions and efficiency of financial institutions and markets in the United Kingdom.
You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the key theories and issues in finance and economics and develop the analytical skills you need to understand the inner workings of the financial world. And you’ll be learning in the perfect location, with the financial hubs of Canary Wharf and the City of London right on your doorstep. You’ll have the valuable opportunity to undertake Bloomberg introduction training, which is an important tool in the world of finance. You’ll also have the chance to go on stimulating visits to key financial institutions, including the London Stock Exchange, Bloomberg, Bank of England and the London Metal Exchange.

>International Business and Communication - If you’re an aspiring business leader or a young professional preparing to enter the world of work in an emerging and developing economy, this course is for you. It’s structured around the needs of speakers of English as a second language and will help you develop your applied knowledge of English. If you’re interested in improving your chances of finding the right career, the course contains an optional online employability simulation. You’ll also study a variety of business topics and apply your knowledge through case study work and interaction with corporate executives.

>Fashion Culture - This course will give you a fascinating insight into the world famous London fashion scene, exploring the cultural and retail environments behind what has become known as 'cool Britannia'. London fashion is synonymous with cutting-edge creativity while embracing a rich heritage of quality and craft. Designers work for established brands as well as nurturing an entrepreneurial and innovative design approach in their studios, many situated in the creative hub of east London.

>Digital Start-Ups for Entrepreneurs (3 weeks) - This is a course for the driven, the curious and the ambitious. London is a very diverse city full opportunities for people with ideas and an entrepreneurial mindset. If you’ve ever wondered what it's like to work with start-up founders and tech companies or even drive your own ideas forward this course will be right for you. It’s an immersive experience to connect with London’s own Silicon Valley known as Tech City. Run by Startup Insights UK in partnership with UEL, the course is designed for students from all backgrounds and different areas of study. Whether you have technical or non-technical skills you’ll have the opportunity to meet and solve challenges with start-up founders, get one-to-one advice, pitch your ideas and visit the most innovative tech companies with the likes of Google.

Our programme of social activities includes numerous late-afternoon and weekend trips to places such as: The British Museum, National Gallery, Tate Modern Art Gallery, The Houses of Parliament, Brick Lane (Spitalfields Market and the ‘Curry Mile’), St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower of London, Regent’s Park, Hyde Park, Bicester Shopping Village, Bloomberg, Chelsea FC, London Stock Exchange. The summer school programme includes a welcome and farewell dinner and a variety of other social events where you’ll have the chance to share experiences, swap stories and make lifelong friendships.
