About Program

We welcome international students currently studying at their home institution to join us for a semester for a transformative experience of studying in Ōtautahi Christchurch, a living case study of a revitalised, resilient city. Christchurch, New Zealand, a city reborn from the devastation of earthquakes and tragedy, stands as a living testament to resilience and innovation. This remarkable transformation offers a unique case study for exploring resilient cities. Ara Institute of Canterbury has been a driving force in Christchurch's recovery. Māori cultural principles, such as manaakitanga (hospitality), aroha (love), and whanaungatanga (kinship), have been fundamental in providing support and fostering a thriving community spirit.

We have a wide range of programmes available for semester study abroad experiences such as engineering, technology, architecture, sustainability, design and business. If you would like any information about Study Abroad opportunities, please get in touch.
