Study Abroad Programmes in Northern Ireland

I studied in Ulster University, Coleraine campus, during Semester 1, 2025.
I really liked the small-scale campus and the community there. What I particularly appreciated was how present, supportive and understanding the teaching and non-teaching staff were. It really did make a difference especially when it came to administrative tasks that could be dauting but they made it all easier.
Studying at Ulster has been an incredible experience, I made some wonderful friendships and discovered a different way of teaching compared to what I was used to back home.
Being in Northern Ireland also means being close to Europe and that proximity enabled me to go and visit a few places around Europe that usually seem so out of reach when living in French Polynesia.
Apart from the campus and the university, I really loved living in Northern Ireland. People are extremely nice and welcoming and the landscapes are breathtaking. If you love hiking, camping, and nature, this is the perfect place !
Make sure to try Guiness at least once, it is a must, and indulge in a wonderful Ulster fry, one of the many things I miss about my time in Northern Ireland.

I really enjoyed my exchange semester in Ulster University at the Derry campus. It was nice to be in a small area I could really get to know in the short period. Derry is a very cute town and the people are very kind. I found it easier to connect with the other exchange students (made 2 life long friends), other people didn’t seem as open to creating new connections but might just be my experience. The amount of school for an exchange semester was perfect for exploring. Ireland is really expensive though!

As a student coming from America, I found Northern Irelanders incredibly friendly and welcoming. I met some of the best people in the world and got to experience what an amazing town Belfast is. There was always so much to do and it was easy to get everywhere. The university itself is absolutely beautiful and like nothing I have seen before. I spent many a night with my best friends in the Uni bar and had the time of my life. I would suggest UU and Belfast to absolutely everyone. The city has so much to offer in every way. There are so many historic interests in and around Belfast that could keep anyone busy for a long time.

I liked my trip in Belfast and the university is amazing but the animation for exchange student were not really communicated except for the one in the first week and the extra class.

But I really enjoy my trip, the professor was lovely and I understand more the particularity between France and Northern Ireland.

I know that there are a lot of conflict now between locals and foreigners but in the university it is not the case and they really promote differences between student and learning new culture as part of class.
