About Program

Bring your desire to learn and/or practice Spanish, your interest in climate change, and your curiosity of the Peruvian culture to Cusco this January. The Climate Change course is taught in English and complemented with immersive co-curricular activities designed to increase intercultural understanding.

Cusco, known as the ombligo del mundo (the world’s belly button) by Peruvians, was the center of the Inca empire that lasted between 1400 and 1534, and at its greatest moments, expanded from what today is known as Quito, Ecuador to Santiago, Chile. Modern day Cusco is colorful and lively, brimming with traditional Andean art, dance, live shows, and street performances.

Amazing experience!

I loved my 3 weeks in Peru! Having done two other winter interim courses via other organizations, I can say that this is by far the best program I have done to date. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, the homestay experience was very rewarding, and I met a lot of amazing people on the trip. Though the academic element was not the most challenging, I still learned a lot. We were able to experience/ witness a lot of what we were learning about firsthand through different field trips, which was very enlightening. The program is flexible enough where you can be doing short trips on weekends and explore the country. Peru is an unbelievable place with a lot to see, do, and learn and I would recommend this experience for anyone looking to try something new and be challenged.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
I would recommend arriving a few days early to explore Lima and do some day trips from Lima (Huacachina, Islas Ballestas, Nazca lines...). I would also recommend staying an extra week at the end to go on some other excursions that you may not have been able to do during the weekends.

Adventure!

Cusco Peru is a beautiful town, with amazing culture and wonderful/kind people! It was incredible seeing the beautiful landscapes and eating their amazing food! My host family was so unbelievably sweet and understanding. We did live a bit farther from the school so I had to take the bus. But I had other classmates that lived near me and we all rode together. It was fun feeling like a local.
As with any traveling, be sure to be aware of your surroundings.
Go on this adventure you won't regret it!
