Excellent recruiter!

I am very happy I signed up with Planet ESL. The recruiter communicated with me thoroughly and in a timely manner throughout the entire process (interviewing, hiring, visa docs, arriving in Korea, etc.). She was very clear with what she needed from me (information, documents, etc.). I was a bit worried that some of the requests I had would not be met. But the recruiter was very understanding and I was able to secure a school that meet my needs. Overall, I had no communication issues and the process was very easy. I highly recommend Planet ESL for any teachers that are considering teaching English in Korea.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Be open-minded to the culture. Don't be afraid to get out there and explore different parts of Korea!

Planet ESL

Planet ESL helped me secure a wonderful job, and I honestly wish I had gone to them sooner. When I first started looking for work in Korea, I was stressed and unsure where to begin. Looking back, working with a headhunting company like Planet ESL would have saved me so much time and worry.

After a thorough interview with my recruiter, Jiyeon Kim, I felt like she really wanted to understand me as a teacher. She asked about my work experience, but she also asked thoughtful questions about my preferences and what kind of school environment I would be happy in. Soon after the interview, she matched me with a job that checked all the boxes. She arranged the school interview, and it ended with me receiving a wonderful job offer.

Even after I got the position, Jiyeon continued to help me through the visa documents, housing process, and any concerns I had along the way. She was professional, kind, and incredibly responsive, even answering my phone calls on the weekend.

I truly cannot recommend Planet ESL enough. Thank you so much!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would've gone to them sooner instead of trying to hire directly.

  • Provided support with visa documents and housing.

2 Thumbs Up!

Hi, everyone. I actually got my first teaching job abroad through Planet ESL Recruiting, so I wanted to leave a review. I started working at one of their partner hagwons in Seoul in May 2025. The location, salary, housing and hagwon itself were as advertised (you get pictures and a contract before you leave home). Also, my flight was paid for (it was my first flight, actually).

Planet ESL Recruiting went above and beyond to help me through every step along the way from the initial job search back at home in the USA to long after my arrival in South Korea. I communicated with so many different recruiters and hagwons before settling on this recruiter and my current hagwon. I have no regrets with my decisions whatsoever! I HIGHLY recommend Planet ESL Recruiting! What you're told and what you see is what you get with them. That transparency and open line of communication are so important, especially when being an unseasoned, solo traveler in a new land, such as myself. They made the move seamless for me. Best of luck on your journey, fellow teachers! #TwoThumbsUp
