World-class B2B Teaching Services

Hello, I'm Prenavin Naidoo an ELT teacher from Johannesburg, South Africa and I have been honoured to join the English Wizards community since February 2021.

English Wizards is a community of fellow teachers that have a passion for education and creating opportunities for people from all different places and spheres of influence to collaborate and make a positive difference in the lives of students through English as a Foreign language.

My experience has been life changing, I have met so many incredible people and had the privilege to undergo the power-packed and engaging business internship, which is truly just world-class. The English Wizards team have been super supportive and with community managers that are just super-human at times always ready to help and hold our hands through this new journey navigating life as a teacher in Poland.

One of the most unique parts for me about English Wizards is how detailed and informative they are. They assist teachers every step of the way with a smile! Literally from when you select your package, getting your visas/work permits to getting on the plane, fetching you upon your arrival, making sure you settled in your hostel or helping to arrange your accommodation and even when you start at your first school, there is always some from the team who can give you advice like lesson plan tip and even where to get that essential euro plug- this is not just a B2B teaching Business they are the experts with a heart for growing teachers.

I would highly recommend anyone to reach out to the English Wizards team and they will be happy to provide all the steps you need to begin your new life working in Poland. Regards, Prenavin Naidoo

What was your funniest moment?
We went on our first internship tour to Zakopane and while up in the mountains, I was wearing totally the wrong boots so needless to say I slided down but couldn't walk up the snow😂

Valuable experiences and help

Moving aboard to work always feels a little risky. English Wizards helped me feel more secure. They helped with the hardest parts of moving and working abroad.

The English Wizards program set me up for success. I was new to teaching english. The program not only gave me experience but gave me priceless guidance, tips, and tricks. It was intensive and rigorous, but entirely worth it. My classmates and I encouraged and supported each other throughout making it a fantastic learning environment. The hands-on experience and practice allowed me to be more confident and capable in front of my students. Overall, the experience made me a better teacher and without it teaching wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable.

Many of the daunting things regarding moving and working abroad, were made much easier by English Wizards. They provided some help to me with all of the following:
- getting a work permit
- how to get to Poland (flights) (during a pandemic this is not easy to navigate but they provided much needed guidance)
- Getting a Job
- Getting an Apartment
- Getting my Government paperwork figured out
- Making friends
- Navigating the Covid restrictions
- and much more!

TL;DR: It can be scary and risky to move and work abroad. English Wizards and their program helped me feel more secure and set me up for success.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Sometimes things take time to work. I had a job within two weeks of landing in Poland. My partner did not have work for the first month, but then got 3 job offers in two days! Some schools or companies hire at different times, so be a little patient and it'll work out. English WIzards is also huge help on this front.

Also, have fun with being here! Krakow is a lot of fun! Pierogis and Wawel chocolates are delicious!

Internship - Awesome

Heya,

So I joined the internship in September. It's a great experience, we had a full 5 days of heavy studying and even practice with actual students in the evening.

I found the whole process to be really eye-opening and it really put my TEFL knowledge to good use.

The pre-coursework for the internship was great and helped fine-tune knowledge already learned. During the lessons, it's great to meet other teachers and develop your skills together and there is a strong sense of comradery involved which is great fun.

I'm having a great time and it's great to be out here.

I like the community and everyone is more than happy to help.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Just enjoy being in another culture, it's great to hear your students perspectives on life and how they view the world.

I very much enjoy exporting British humor to some of my student's and exploring the English language in a way that's fun for the student (but also fun for me)

Having a cheeky Monty Python sketch here and there puts a smile on everyone's face.

Meeting local people has been key to feeling at home in Krakow.

I have a local bar near me where I can order my "usual" and I've also made a lot of local friends but I've also got a strong sense of community and friendships within the English wizard's program.

It's a great country to visit.

The Adventure I Needed

This has been an amazing experience! The friends I made during the course, the scenery, architecture and culture I experienced since my arrival all exceeded my expectations.

Upon arrival, I was greeted at the airport and guided to my Airbnb. I was set up with a sim card, given a tour of the city including where I could find groceries, do laundry, etc. I was given a crash course on how to use the tram/bus system and if I had any questions English Wizards was a quick phone call away. It was my first time living in a different country but after several days I felt very confident and excited about my decision to move to Poland.

The TEFL program was very thorough and provided a formula for conducting lessons. I previously had no teaching experience so this course was very useful and gave me real-life practice scenarios that I used to perfect my teaching methods.

Unlike the US, searching for a job in Poland is a lot easier. I was really surprised because within a very short time of completing the course I had two job offers. Coming from a country where English is the first language really helps out!

I've been here nearly 9 months and have no desire to move back to Texas. Poland has become my second home!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Pierogi! I had no idea these delicious dumplings existed but so glad I found out about them!
