About Program
We teach in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. At EduMais we want the best education for our kids & youth!
Why? Because everyone in the world should have access to high-quality education to brighten their future and our kids & youth don't have it.
We focus on developing the Social & Emotional skills of our kids & youth by teaching English, and computer skills like Serious Game Design, Entrepreneurship & preparation for the labor market. In January we have our summer school.
Volunteer with EduMais is free of charge. You will be trained in our methodology Positive Discipline and we train you how to teach (don't worry if you have no experience yet - you will learn).
For 3 days a week, you will gain knowledge and hands-on experience in teaching, how to lead kids & youth, working on social media, fundraising, etc. On the other days of the week, you can learn Portuguese, explore Rio, or make a splash in the many activities like hiking and many more.

Program Impact
Education is a critical factor in the development and success of children, especially those living in disadvantaged communities like our favelas. Our impact so far:
Improved life prospects: Education equips children with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for a successful future. By receiving an education, children from favelas can break the cycle of poverty and improve their life prospects. We have many graduated students now at universities.
Increased economic opportunities: Education can provide children from favelas with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue higher-paying jobs and increase their earning potential. We are supporting our graduated students in finding suitable jobs.
Enhanced community development: Education can also contribute to the overall development of favela communities by increasing social capital, and promoting civic engagement. We have a student-led team that is conducting our serious game design course - they are the change makers and leaders.
Reduced inequality: By providing children from favelas with access to education, we can reduce inequality and create a more equitable and just society.
