About Program
FIMRC's Project Anconcito, located about 2 hours of Guayaquil and 20 minutes of the popular beach town of Salinas, takes a community-based approach, adapting our programs to address the evolving needs of the people we serve. Our program areas include Non-Communicable Disease (Hypertension and Diabetes), Children Nutrition Assessment and Monitoring, and Youth Empowerment.
Volunteers maintain important roles in our community through participating in our diabetic group doing blood glucose monitoring, medication management, and education, working alongside our nutritionist getting blood tests and health stats on children screening for anemia, delivering health education in local preschools and daycare programs, participate in our elderly group programs, and work with people with disabilities. Volunteers also get the chance to learn about the local public health system and work alongside local medical providers. No previous medical experience is required!
