Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.

Educational Trip to Ethiopia

This trip was probably one of the most shaping one that I've been to so far. The Ethiopian culture is second to none and the support of Deldey was great. Abusha, the head of Deldey, took very good care of me by being supportive and always available in case I needed something.

The fast immersion into the Ethiopian culture was absolutely great. The people there are very open and interested in people discovering their country.

I can highly recommend going with Deldey if you want to bring your personal development to the next level with an well structured organization!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Well that easily the raw meat which is a substantial part of the Ethiopian culture. Even though it was something to get used to, it was an experience that I wouldn't want to miss.
Pros
  • Personal Development
  • Guidance by Deldey
  • Deep dive into Ethiopian society and culture

An Unforgettable Cultural and Service Experience with Deldey

My experience with Deldey in Ethiopia was truly life-changing. From the moment I arrived, the team was warm, organized, and passionate about making a real difference in the community. The program offered the perfect balance between cultural immersion and meaningful volunteer work.

I loved engaging with local families, learning from the community, and seeing firsthand how small efforts can create lasting impact. Deldey’s coordinators were supportive throughout—always ensuring our safety, comfort, and learning.

What stood out most was the sense of purpose and connection I gained. Ethiopia’s culture is rich and welcoming, and Deldey provided the right environment to grow personally and professionally while contributing to something bigger.

I’d highly recommend Deldey to anyone looking for a genuine, impactful, and heartwarming experience in Ethiopia.
