About Program

Voluntary teaching assistant work in Ghana is an ideal way to get involved and help improve the welfare and education of the children. You can contribute toward this important development work during a gap year or career break, or as a worthwhile way to spend a vacation. Energy, passion, and commitment to the work at hand are all that you need.

You will be helping teach children in the local community with a partner school under the supervision of train Ghanaian staff how to read and write, your participation will really benefit the children you work with, while gaining valuable skills yourself. Teaching in community schools with limited resources provides an engaging environment for educating children and teenagers. Your ideas, your energy, and your presence are exciting for students and invigorating for the teachers and parents. The students are full of curiosity about the world around them and they welcome your perspective, you will also serve or be seen as a positive role models

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here. Learn more about how Future For Africa is promoting ethical volunteering.
