About Program

Volunteer Travel Projects is a volunteering organisation, and we help people go overseas to volunteer for good causes they care about and also have a bit of a holiday at the same time. Our mission is to serve, inspire and help the disadvantaged by creating opportunities and sharing resources to communities that are less fortunate.

We facilitate life-enriching travel experiences that enable our volunteers to give back to causes they care about, while exploring the amazing world around us. We offer a range of volunteer abroad programs in Ghana. Our affordable fees provide a fully hosted experience, which enables people from all walks of life to come together and create positive social, environmental, and personal transformation through travel.
Our volunteering projects are available for anyone interested in volunteering in the developing world, including those on a gap year, career break or as summer work experience while studying.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.

An Outstanding Experience

Ghana was the most eye-opening experience I have ever encountered in my life.
I would recommend the Volunteer Travel Projects program to anybody and suggest you join because it will be the most important experience you will ever embark on. Despite the amount of poverty in Ghana, I can say with confidence that Ghanaians are the most genuinely nice people I have ever been around in my life.
I got the opportunity to teach in Jesus the Saviour School and the kids had so much energy and passion that I had to bring my A game to keep up with them. Some of the kids were more independent, learned on their own, and knew when to seek help when needed. Others needed more attention in specific subjects and seemed to constantly want to share stories and have discussions with me. Every day on the way to class I would walk by the kids’ school and hear the word 'obrony' (white man!) about 30 times. At first, I did not know what to do, but all I had to do was smile and wave as if I was some sort of celebrity.
I travelled to Cape Coast and Kumasi and other places. I had a great time. I really appreciate Volunteer Travel Projects for being organized and providing the volunteers with such a nice environment to live in. Koforidua is surrounded by mountains, so it's a great place to have weekends off. It's close to waterfalls, hiking in the mountains, bicycle riding, local villages, and easy access to festivals in the Eastern Region. Only a quick ride to Accra to see any major attractions in Ghana's capital city.
It is definitely a lifetime experience. When somebody is hesitating to come to Africa for holiday or better for volunteering, the only thing I can say: just do it! You will never feel regret, I'm sure.

Pros
  • Well organised program from start to finish
  • Experiencing life in a different view and spending time with the children
  • Ghana is a wonderful place with lots of potential.
Cons
  • Saying good bye to the kids
