About Program

The Sports project is designed to offer sports activities to rural Children in Ghana from several backgrounds. As a sports volunteer, you will work alongside the coaches of the Football team to facilitate daily practices. Additionally, the volunteers will help the team play matches on the weekends where you will assist the coach.

Volunteers don't need to be professional in sports but rather have a passion and excitement for this Football program in Ghana. Training is mostly done in the morning and in the evening after school. You will work throughout the week and on weekends. You can arrange with our local staff to take off certain weekends for travel if you wish. Then you will have a trip to see other parts of the country. Sports volunteers may consider combining football coaching with another program such as childcare or teaching. This will enable you for your days with more activities and a stronger bond with the Children/Youth in the community.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.

Program Impact

As a Sports/Football coaching Volunteer in Ghana with St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation, your work will include conducting educational workshop and child development programs. You will play a huge role in being an extra pair of hands and eyes to help provide entertainment to Children who need it most on any given day. You will be involved in a variety of activities where your primary role will be a to assist the coach and insuring all of the Children get the attention they need.

You will be playing games and sports outside, helping with feeding the Children, tidying and cleaning the class and on your free time teaching basic subjects such as creative arts, English, mathematics, Science, geography etc... You will be instrumental in keeping the Children engaged and happy where you will join with games and other fun activities and hopefully introduce some of your own new ideas through our football coaching program in Ghana.

This football coaching is available throughout the year, and it is suitable for volunteers, students, gap years, career breakers, solo travelers, groups, couples etc. SMWEF staff will help you throughout your program duration and stay in Ghana.
