About Program
Echo is looking for outgoing, outdoorsy people who want to make a real difference in the world and don't mind working hard (in hot, dry, thorny conditions!) to see it. Our organization is situated in a beautiful former farm on the northern end of Bonaire in the Dutch Caribbean. We live and work in remote, basic conditions and are responsible for the continued care of around 20 parrots (mainly Amazona barbadensis) on site. In the field, we are actively working to protect and restore the tropical dry forest that these parrots call home. To achieve our reforestation goals we also manage a native tree nursery with capacity for 10,000 plants. If you like to get your hands dirty, like to work outside and with birds or plants, then this is the volunteer program for you.
