About Program

The Care and Education project involves working in a drop-in care centre for Senegalese street children in Saint-Louis. Volunteers play an important role in the centre, aiding with healthcare, education and activities for the children.

The centre allows the children to visit if and when they want to, with all resources available for every child. Children can come everyday and stay all day or they can drop in for ten minutes one time - it is completely in their hands.

The role of a Care and Education volunteer is to provide a basic education to the children (french, maths, English) and to provide first aid (optional - training available at placement). It is a challenging role but also fun and rewarding.

Saint-Louis is a beautiful city based in the north of Sénégal, with many multi-coloured buildings and a gorgeous river. Accommodation and three meals a day is included in the cost of each project but Aider Sans Frontières can provide further information on pricing.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.
