About Program
Live and work on a 6,000-hectare, malaria-free Big Five game reserve in South Africa’s Eastern Cape while supporting real conservation efforts. As a volunteer you’ll help track and monitor lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo and leopards, remove alien vegetation, restore habitat, and assist with ecological research. You’ll also join community projects such as school feeding schemes and conservation education when in term time, making your impact felt beyond the reserve.
Accommodation, meals and training are provided on site, with airport transfers and weekend shuttles to Port Elizabeth included. This programme suits anyone passionate about wildlife and the outdoors – no previous conservation experience is required, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved. Your time and programme fee go directly towards the upkeep of the reserve, employment of local staff and ongoing protection of endangered species.

Program Impact
By volunteering here, you contribute directly to preserving one of Africa’s most iconic ecosystems. You’ll help remove invasive plant species, assist with game counts and wildlife monitoring, maintain trails, and participate in habitat restoration. Your work supports the long-term viability of Big Five species (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard) and many others that share this habitat.
Beyond wildlife, your presence aids local communities through conservation education, employment opportunities and sustainable reserve management. The reserve’s projects depend on passionate volunteers to maintain infrastructure, support ecological research, and keep biodiversity thriving. Your efforts help create a legacy where people and wildlife can coexist sustainably.
