About Program

Spain is a country were solidarity and social services are important, for the public administration as well as for the civil society; there are many NGOs, receiving public or private support, taking care of different causes all around the country.

We work through the Global Service learning educational approach that combines learning objectives with community service in order to provide a pragmatic, progressive learning experience while meeting societal needs.

AIPC Pandora collaborates with a large network in Spain where our volunteers will be involved in projects related to education, health, environment or social development, among other activities. Every project is different as is every volunteer, so we will do our best to find the place and the projects that best fit their expectations.

Valentina is a young Italian woman who moved to Spain after her Bachelor degree to participate in a European Program. Once finished, she decided to remain in Madrid. She has a passion for culture and language, and never stops learning.

What is your favorite travel memory?

I can talk about a lot of travel memories, I don't have a favorite one. When I travel, no matter when, it could be a little town here in Spain, a big European city or whenever.

When I travel, I always remember the people, their faces, eyes and all the feelings they give to me. This is my best memories, people faces and soul!

What do you love most about your job?

I love people, languages, cultures, and discovering the world. Being able to work for an NGO in International Mobility is the best possible job for me.

I get to help people move and connect with others all over the world, and I love listening to and reading about their experiences, their fears, their doubts, and being able to tell them that everything is going to be okay, and knowing that they are going to have the best experience of their life collaborating with others on one of our projects.

It is great to be able to work with people you can learn from every day. It's what I love and appreciate most about working at AIPC Pandora.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

We have a lot of stories we can tell -- I think this is particularly common when a participant is in a program that works with children with social issues.

All of our programs are educational and transformative not only because they generate change in the local community, but also in the participants. When we see videos and pictures from their time with us, we can see what they have learned and how grateful they are.

I'm particularly impressed by young, brave students (15 - 16 years old), who decide to come here for a whole academic year. They leave their family and comfort zone to live in Spain with a host family and attend a new school with new classmates. It seems great, and it really is, but it is a big change and must be difficult for a young boy or girl. Seeing the happiness in their eyes while they're in Spain and how they learn and improve is amazing.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

Wow, that's a very difficult question. We offer so many programs that I would need so much free time and holiday to participate in each one!

If I had to choose one program, I'd do an internship to improve my knowledge and practice. They are very educational programs that allow participants to learn and work in another country. This is similar to what I've already done -- moving to Spain from Italy to work for an International NGO.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Personally, I think one of the most important things is having a connected team. If all the components of the team fit together, then you will have a successful company. People working together, toward a common goal, is what is needed to accomplish great things.
