Volunteers are required to pay $360 USD. The $200 USD for visa costs and the remaining $USD 160 for monthly accommodation, water, electricity and FOHUSO’s t-shirts. It also includes transportation from the airport (arriving and departing Mwanza). Local transports from the hostel to the office.

About Program

The Project is Based in the RYECO Natural Forest Reserve which located in Rukoma Village in Uvinza District which is located along the shores of Lake Tanganyika at the southern part of Kigoma Region, the region is found in the Western part of Tanzania in East Africa. The forest is allocated along Kigoma town to Kalya road, almost 50 kilometres from Malagarasi river. Here, volunteers work to preserve local biodiversity through research and monitoring.

Along with hundreds of bird species, volunteers can expect to see buffalos, wild pigs, chimpanzees (black and white), monkeys, lions, apes, hyenas, leopards, gazelles, warthogs, aardvarks, porcupines, antelopes, Also, there are birds species like hawks, eagles, fowls, owls.
The area is characterized of varieties of natural plant species Like bamboo trees and miombo woods.

Our main research focus is on the white and black chimpanzees and we conduct research on these animals as part of a larger project with other reserves.
