Supportive Organisation

Great organization and a very supportive family - thank you, Andi and Amediwe, for making this program so amazing!
The program was incredibly enjoyable and informative, as it allowed me to explore another culture while also gaining valuable experience by assisting them in developing their talents.
Tanzania is a great place to volunteer, and you will never regret going.
In the future, I intend to re-volunteer and reconnect with the wonderful people I met throughout my stay, as well as see all of the youngsters I assisted during football workouts.

very impactful trip

leaving your comfort zone and entering a whole new environment is an unforgettable experience. The mystery and uncertainty of being in a foreign area may appear frightening, but it will definitely be unforgettable and teach you so much about not only the world around you, but also about yourself. It was more challenging in some ways, but much simpler in others, and it's a way of life I'd like to live it again. My favorite part was meeting and working with locals on a variety of projects such as cooking, cleaning, animal care, and so much more - I liked hearing about their lives and their history. Learning more about other people's perspectives on life and the world will continue to fascinate and amaze me.

best decision i made

This has absolutely been the best experience I've ever had, and I'll explain why in this review.
On my first day, I was quite concerned because it was my first time traveling alone, which obviously terrified me a lot, but as the days passed, that fear transformed into joy, happiness, and love. Everything about my time as a volunteer was great, beginning with the housing, which was ideally located and extremely clean for everyone. Then there was our adviser, Andi, who was always friendly and willing to assist us in any way she could. Going on to the food, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed every single meal during my month in Arusha; I had the opportunity to try different foods and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Finally, I can't put into words everything that the kids from the daycare school program taught me. They drowned me in love and kindness from the first day I came into the classroom, and the greatest part is that it was the same thing every day, no matter what was going on at home, they always walked into the school with a wide smile and eager to convey all their love to everyone.
I can honestly say that participating in this volunteer work program was the best decision I've ever made; I learned and experienced incredible things, and I believe that this is an experience that everyone should have; I will definitely recommend it, and my time in Tanzania will live on in my heart forever.

Good Job

1. I had contact with Andi and Amediwe, and I was very satisfied with their knowledge and prompt response to my questions and returning my phone calls or messages. I thought the preparation resources were in-depth and very helpful, and I was impressed with the safety tips and information available for the country I was visiting and working in.
I think I received more from this experience than what I gave, I only spent a week and I strongly urge to those reading this to book 2 weeks since most projects won't get completed in a week, and there is so much to see, so I had no time to see what I wanted, my fault, next time I will book 2 weeks!
Among my favorite moments of this experience are working with my fellow mates and watching the project come together, sharing stories of our lives and countries while working or on break or traveling to the job site, plus meeting all my new friends.
this experience taught me that I am spoiled with what I have in my own country and surroundings, and that I should never complain about anything concerning material or economic situations. I witnessed a new culture and realized that people in other parts of the world do not have the resources or tools that we do, and that we must share our wealth, goods, and time to make the world equal.
If you're still thinking about volunteering, DO IT; if you've thought about it, remember that God placed the concept in your head to go and serve others; that is what we are meant to do; you're not thinking about it by chance.
I promise that after you finish your mission and return home, you will wish you were still there or that you are ready to plan your next volunteer experience. Do not let regrets destroy your future; do it while you still have your health.

Awesome Experience

Andi, in the office, and Amediwe (our driver and guide), were responsive, accommodating,
knowledgeable, and attentive. Everything from the airport pickup to the introduction to my project didn't require me to think; the volunteer coordinator took care of my concerns. The hostel was excellent. I appreciate that tea and coffee are available at all times.
The Kilimanjaro beer was my favorite. If you can't climb it, drink it.
Don't hesitate to use the Tanzania Smiles organization. You won't regret it.

Pros
  • Real Cultural experience, real impact
  • Friendly staff
  • Nice food
Cons
  • Distance project
