About Program
Located off the coast of Tanzania, Zanzibar is a small, Muslim-majority island. Once the location of a flourishing spice trade, Zanzibar is now mainly known for its beautiful beaches and historic Stone Town, dating from the 1800s. Although technically part of Tanzania (since 1964), Zanzibar operates semi-autonomously. One of the largest problems in Zanzibar is the large level of unemployment, especially among young people. Our volunteers assist the community by serving as teachers, coaches, IT instructors and documentary film makers among other positions.
