About Program

Bethlehem orphanage center was started after seeing a lot of children homeless around the Arusha Municipal; many of which have never attended school. A lot of children have also been left as orphans due to the HIV pandemic. Such a situation has led to a lot of street children referred to as Orphan Vulnerable Children (OVC). These children do not have food, and miss parental love and care. The future of every nation depends on children’s physical, mental, social and spiritual well being.

The Bethlehem Center For Children was opened May 1, 2007 by the founder, a lovely Christian Tanzanian woman, Mrs. Tumaini Munisi.

Initially there were 8 children living in Mrs. Munisi’s care, 3 boys and 5 girls, in two small rooms with just the basics. Through God’s blessings of generous volunteering and giving, Bethlehem orphanage has expanded and developed enough living space for our now 15 children.

Program Highlights

  • Arusha is a vibrant city with alot of activities to do

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.
