About Program

Join Volunteer Tanzania Hub in Karatu, Tanzania, and become part of meaningful community-led projects that create lasting impact. Volunteers work alongside local teachers, healthcare workers, and community leaders to support education, medical outreach, youth empowerment, and sustainable community development initiatives. Located near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti, our program combines hands-on volunteering with authentic cultural immersion and opportunities to explore Tanzania's rich natural heritage. Whether you are a student, professional, gap-year traveler, or retiree, you can contribute your skills while gaining valuable cross-cultural experience and helping strengthen local communities.

Program Highlights

  • Make a direct impact by supporting local schools, healthcare facilities, and community development projects.
  • Live and volunteer in Karatu, the gateway to the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park.
  • Experience authentic Tanzanian culture through daily interaction with local families and community members.
  • Stay in comfortable volunteer accommodation with dedicated local support throughout your placement.
  • Combine meaningful volunteering with optional safari adventures and cultural excursions in northern Tanzania.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.
