About Program
Our programs in the Kuraburi, Phang Nga area focus on teaching English at local learning centers for Burmese migrant children, and also rural Thai schools. No prior teaching experience is necessary, only patience and a willingness to learn! Andaman Discoveries will provide resources and a brief overview on best teaching practices. Ideally you will be paired with a co-teacher.
You will play a vital role in the education of all the children at the schools by teaching them English as a secondary language. This helps them gain confidence and experience in dealing with foreigners. Many of the children in this region go on to make a living in the tourist industry, which is fed by the nearby coral-rich islands of the Andaman Sea and the Khao Sok National Park. If they are able to speak English and deal confidently with foreigners they have the chance to secure employment in the local area and stay close to family members.
