About Program

There is a growing reception to Jesus in Africa. The Lord has blessed many people in Uganda with His Word and a hunger to know more. As GIDCCO grows, so does the need for adequate space. At the present time the church services for GIDCCO are held in a small hut. Many times it is held under a mango tree.

There is also a hope to build an orphanage and school with the same mission; to take kids off the streets and provide them with shelter, food and the hopes of an education. There are countless orphans, and not enough orphanages to care for them. The orphanages that exist are overcrowded and underfunded, but are performing incredible work. Entire villages have been decimated by the scourge of AIDS epidemic, creating a seemingly endless stream of needy children. Having come from the same background and growing up an orphan himself, Pastor Fred Mwanje, has a deep desire to provide such a place as this for God's children.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.
