Volunteer in a diverse project: Orphanage, School, Health Center, Farm
- Uganda
About Program
An Orphanage, a School, a Health Center and a Farm. This is our project! As a volunteer, you get the chance to help the workers with daily tasks. You are expected to bring in own ideas and point to things that can be improved. All you need is interest, the ability to adapt to other living conditions and compassion to help others.
Volunteers are expected to:
• support the project in general so it can develop
• handle children and babies and help to take care of them
• help in the clinic
• encourage the children to be educated and live together as a community
• help in class by supporting the teachers and playing educational games with the children
• think of ways to expand the projects (raising money to build new classrooms, treatment rooms etc.)
• help the farmers and improve the farm by finding new, more efficient ways of farming
• help in PR work, especially online/social media
You can choose which part of KIVAM you want to work in. We are looking forward to meeting you!

Program Highlights
- KIVAM is very versatile. You can volunteer in so many different areas: education, health, farming, community work... the possibilities are endless!
- By working in Kidron, you are experiencing Ugandan day to day life. You get further insight into the culture, the mentality and the Ugandan way of life than ever before.
- You can start your voluntary service at any time of the year, and you are free to chose the duration of your stay (between two weeks and 1 year).
- Naminya, where KIVAM is located, is close to Jinja, one of the biggest cities in Uganda. You can easily go there in less then 15 minutes and enjoy its market places, stores and tourist attractions. Lake Victoria and the Victoria Nile is very close, too!
- You will receive a volunteer certificate at the end of your service.
Program Impact
By volunteering in Kidron Valley Ministries, you are making a huge difference in the Naminya community. Without volunteers, KIVAM cannot operate, and without KIVAM, people in and around Jinja lack healthcare, education and jobs. You will support humans who are less privileged than you and who require your help. And of course, working in our project will widen your own horizon and you will learn so much about yourself. The challenges you are going to face, the things you are going to experience and the difference you will make by helping other people will be beneficial to your understanding of the world.
