About Program
Many children in Uganda neither have the time nor the resources to play and just be children. With our playgrounds and Tjeko Method, we strive to provide every child with a safe, creative space to develop. Edutainment volunteers work with us in our play park at the outskirts of Jinja as well as join us in Ugandan schools to raise awareness about the power of play in children's development. Specific tasks include operating the play park like selling tickets, building up play equipment, ensuring the safety of children playing, maintaining the grounds or repairing play items. They are also included in the preparation of new workshops lessons and theatrical performances, as well as the development of new games. To generate income and keep our services almost free, volunteers also support the rental service of our play equipment by delivering items all over Uganda and interacting with our clients.

Program Impact
Volunteering with Tjeko doesn't only have an impact on our team but also on the local community. By bringing in volunteers from diverse backgrounds, the program enriches Tjeko's capacity to deliver high-quality recreational activities for children, fostering creativity, social development, and well-being. Volunteers contribute fresh perspectives, expertise, and resources, strengthening Tjeko's programs and expanding our reach. The presence of international volunteers also creates opportunities for cultural exchange, empowering local staff and community members through shared learning and collaboration. Local youth are exposed to new ideas and global experiences.
