About Program
We currently have 11 alpacas, including 2 gorgeous cria who were born in 2025. We typically use other sites for attracting volunteers for a month or two, but we're ready to try someone longer term - up to a year, if all is going smoothly for all parties.
In exchange for room and board, we ask for 5 hours per day of work, 5 days a week. It's a very large farmhouse; so, you'll have a private room.
Over the years, we have had over 100 volunteers from various sites, and they came from at least a dozen different countries. The alpacas are beautiful, gentle creatures. You would be providing care for them and working with their fibre, which we obtain by shearing them once per year. As with any farm, there are also lots of ad hoc projects like fencing and painting, particularly if you have aptitude and appetite for those tasks.
Program Highlights
- Use the farm as a base to explore Canada's Ocean Playground.
- Learn to take care of livestock.
- Help transition our blueberry field to spray-free cultivation.
- Learn about sustainable living and being almost off the grid.
- We need people year-round; so, there is no specific start / end date.
