About Program

If you are looking for the ultimate way to explore New Zealand, meet great people and visit amazing places, then Stray's the way!

We aim to take you further off the beaten track to discover the real New Zealand. From the Far North to the very Far South, we'll take you on an incredible journey. Dig a hot pool in the sand at hot water beach, cruise through Milford Sound, marvel at 'Mount Doom', hike the majestic Franz Josef glacier, jump out of a plane over Great Lake Taupo, brave the world's highest bungy jump in Queenstown and learn about Maori Culture at Lake Aniwhenua.

Choose to travel the whole route (minimum of 30 days required) or just part of the route. You can hop on and off the bus in each destination and travel for up to a year! Just hop back on the next bus coming through (at least 3x per week) when you're ready. All your transportation, a guide and some activities are included.

Hahei & Cathedral Cove: Relax into beach life at and explore the paradise of Cathedral Cove, only accessible on foot or by water.

Stewart Island: Go to the very bottom of New Zealand, a special place that time hasn't touched. Search for kiwi birds or, if the solar winds are right you might see the Aurora Australis (Southern Lights).

I travelled with Stray in the summer of 2019. It was an amazing experience to see all of the North Island.
Throughout, my driver was extremely supportive and was happy to answer all our questions!
Stray really do go above and beyond to make sure you have a great time. When we left Auckland, there were only 2 of us on the bus, so they made sure we were really happy and that we all bonded.
The itinerary was seamless and very exciting.
A highlight was the blue duck station, which was made better because they had such a strong relationship with Stray. They really wanted us to be part of the experience and show us the farm.
I would really recommend Stray. Especially that it wasn’t a huge party bus, but still lots of fun. Your bus sets the tone of the trip.
Definitely take a look at their social media and marketing which is SUPERB and a great reflection of the services they offer.
Worth every penny and couldn’t recommend it enough.
