RISH has over a decade of experience organizing Chinese summer camps in China. Every year, we dedicates careful effort to redesign and optimize the summer camp itineraries. Our daughter attended this summer camp last year as it was promoted by her school and we wanted to take this opportunity for her. we knew that she can have a have a lovely summer memories, but not that it would completely change her in a positive manner. We were surprised to see how she became more independent and built up her confidence when she returned at home. She even changed her style and became more mature. thanks to all the organizers for the great change into her. She also mentioned that she learned more about the new technology and development in China as well as the fun from visiting others history sites. And even spend some good time with all the amazing girls and boys over there. Communion were perfectly good and we loved all the things she experimented. Something we must do again for her.

I’m from Ireland. I joined the camp in 2015. The camp has very good activities and very fun field trips! We went to Shanghai Bund, Yuyuan garden, Tianzifang, Shanghai museum,etc… and Hangzhou, Wuzhen. The morning classes are very helpful, the teacher has very good skill to teach, I really learnt a lot. And I knew a lot new friends, thanks to RISH. I really like this camp and would happy to recommend it.

I had a very happy summer with RISH Chinese summer camp. I have been to other summer camps in Shanghai before, but RISH is the best. The campsite is really nice. We live and study in a university campus so everything can be found easily. Classrooms are awesome, sports fields are spacious, and you can chat with local college students to practice Chinese. The Chinese courses are very useful and activities are very fun.Great experience!

I was very worried about food before I came to Shanghai, because I do not eat pork but I heard that a lot of Chinese dishes are made from pork. But finally with RISH Chinese camp this is not a problem! They have several school canteens, each one has a lot of dishes. We can choose anything we want for each meal. RISH counselors always very carefully explained to me which one is made from pork and which one is not. I tried a lot of different Chinese dishes and I love niu rou bao zi ! Thank you!

I have learnt Chinese for 5 years, and participated in the RISH summer camp last year. The campsite was in the Shanghai Fudan university, top 3 school in China, I was so happy to be here to study. After the assessment test I was put into a group with 3 other students. Each morning we had 3 hours general course. Then we had lunch in school cafeteria. We always had a lot of choices of dishes. I was very satisfied about this because I loved Chinese food so I could try different dishes every day. In the afternoon we went out for excursion or we had Chinese classes like debates, role playing, listening exercise etc. After class we had sports like football, basketball, table tennis, and some special Chinese sports like collective rope skipping, ti jian zi. We had to do homework after dinner. Tutor helped me to do some revisions, or answered my questions, or did some themed reading. All this was 1 on 1, it was so great! Finally we had a trip to Hangzhou and Wuzhen. I adored the musical show on the West Lake! I wish I could come back to this camp again, everything here was just so great!

It was my first time to go to China, everything for me was mysterious. When I arrived at Pudong airport, there was a very friendly RISH staff holding a pickup board with my name already waiting for me outside. Then he sent me to the campsite by car. He knew that it was my first time to China so he talked a lot about the camp, the city and so on. It made me less nervous because of far away from home. The reception hall is at the lobby of a university campus hotel. When I arrived, there are RISH staff helping me check in and introduce my roommate to me. In everyday life, the camp counselors are always there to help me with everything, which makes me feel at ease. Many thanks to RISH summer camp team! I will recommend this camp to my friends!

I am 15 years old from Germany. It was my first time to travel alone. Before I come to this summer camp, I’m afraid that there will not many people with similar age as myself. However, the age range of students in this camp is very similar to me. I was very happy in this camp, and made a lot of friends from Ireland, France, Canada, Indonesia, Spain. It was an amazing experience that everyone comes from different countries, but they all speak Chinese!

What would you improve about this program?

None

My children attended the RISH Chinese summer camp last year. I stayed with them for the first several days. The campsite is in SJTU, a very famous China’s university. We just lived in the university’s hotel, we can find everything right on campus. There are also a lot of guest teachers, professors, students form other Chinese cities and also from foreign countries who come to this campus to attend the summer programs. I feel very safe for my children. My children have different levels of speaking and writing Chinese, they are assigned to different groups after a placement test on the first day, each group has 5 students. The learning materials are very different from other camps my children attended before. There are 12 levels, it covers almost all the levels. The point I have to recommend is the 1 on 1 Chinese tutoring every evening. The tutors can let students practice their oral 1 on 1, they also help them to answer their questions in the course of the morning class.
Thanks to RISH, my children improved their Chinese a lot after this summer camp

Why did you choose this program?

My brother has been to RISH Chinese summer camp two years ago. He liked this camp very much and he said that this summer camp was very helpful to improve his Chinese grades. Since my second language is also Chinese in the school, so he recommended our parents to send me to this summer camp this year.

What did your program provider assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

The RISH staff Tina assisted a lot of things after we applied this program. For example: tuition payment guide, visa application, flight organization. Since my brother has been there one time, we did not have big problems. I just needed to pack my luggage according to the packing checklist that Tina sent to me.

When I arrived at Shanghai Pudong airport, the staff was already there. They had my picture so they did not have difficulty to find me.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

This summer camp is a collective life. Almost all activities are collective activities. And you will live with your roommate because two students share one room. In addition, in China, people eat very early; for example, they eat lunch at 11:30, and some people have finished their dinner at 6 o'clock, which I think needs one to adapt.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

We eat buffet breakfast at 8:00 at the hotel's dining hall. At 8:30, we go to the classroom for the intensive Chinese course in the morning. At 12:00, we have lunch and then we can go back to room for break.

In the afternoon, we have language workshop, traditional culture courses, and sports. Sometimes we go out for city tour.

After dinner, we have 1-on-1 tutoring for one hour. Then we have to finish homework. After 20:00, we have free time. I like having walking or jogging in the evening. In the campus there are standard tracks and field, soccer field, basketball courts, etc.

We have room check at 22:15. At that time, everyone has to be in his own room and go to bed.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I've been to China before and my brother has told me about his summer camp experience, so I didn't have any fear before joining this camp. Maybe the only fear is to meet new classmates? I was not sure what kind of people they are. Fortunately, these students are very friendly, and we soon became good friends. I enjoyed the arrangement of this summer camp.

What is your favorite travel memory?

During my gap year in college, I went to England with friends. I have visited most of the must-see tourist attractions, but the most impressive part of this trip for me was visiting the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, King's College, Imperial College London, and LSE. Some of the friends have decided to come back one day to one of these schools to continue master's degree studies. Finally one of the friends finally got the offer of LSE several years later! This trip was the most unforgettable traveling experience for me.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

In the company, I am responsible for helping students to adapt to our campsite and helping them to speak Chinese in daily life in campsite.

After working in the summer camp, I feel that I become more open and my view has improved. In the past, I never dared to express my emotions. But after working for the summer camp, I feel that and I can communicate with my colleagues more smoothly.

It’s fascinating that I can listen to the students from all over the world to tell the interesting and fun things in their countries.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

The best story I heard is from a mom of our summer camp's student from Thailand. She said that after his son came back home, he liked eating a lot of food that he did not even touch or eat before, he can arrange and clean his room every day, and he begins to answer her in Chinese when she speaks Chinese to him. The most impressive thing is that he didn't let her ask for the unaccompanied minor service from an airline company when he took a flight back to Thailand because he thought he was big enough to manage. His mom felt that he has grown up now and she thanked a lot to us for helping his son become better not only in Chinese level but also in other aspects of his daily life.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

Our company is the top provider of the Chinese summer camp in China's market. If I was a foreign youth, I would definitely join this summer camp program.

This program is not only offering fun Chinese study every day, but you can really live and interact with local Chinese people, taste real Chinese food, experience the real Chinese college life, and certainly meet new friends from the whole world.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

What makes our company unique is that we have a great and unique team.

As we all know, students in our summer camp are from worldwide. Different countries have different customs and lifestyles. Therefore, it is not easy for such a team full of diversity to be able to get along well together during so many days. I am most proud of the fact that we can conduct activities and manage camp life according to the characteristics of students from different countries. For example, there are a lot of things to pay attention to during eating time: some students are allergic to nuts, some students do not eat pork, some students like to add more soy sauce for each meal. Every student has his own special needs.

We do our best to satisfy their personal requirements. In fact, in practice, this is a very complicated and very laborious thing. However, no one in our team complained about it and each of us did our best to serve these children. I am very proud of this.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

For our company, I think the most important factor is to make students get a good memory of our summer camp and let them experience the culture and customs of a different country. The memories of childhood and adolescence may accompany a person's life and affect a person's life. When they recall this experience a few years later, they will feel that it is a worthwhile trip, and all the things they have experienced in this trip will have motivated them to continue their effort in learning Chinese in the long term. I think this positive influence that we can offer is the biggest success of our company.
