Teen Spanish Summer Camp in Costa Rica

It is a really fun experience, with fun activities and surprises every day. I enjoyed the coffee farm and the river rafting especially.

When I first came here, I was nervous about speaking Spanish with my homestay family, but I have learned a lot of Spanish since I arrived. The classes are very helpful for learning new vocabulary, and we get lots of practice speaking it during the day when we do activities.

I also enjoyed trying new foods, like termites, and spending time in Heredia with my classmates. We went to places like el Parque Central and got churros together, which was really fun. I also learned a lot about the culture and wildlife here. I loved my homestay experience because Vicky is great, and her cat, Bruno, was one of the best parts of my time here. I love Bruno. He is so cute and loves to sit on people’s laps and be picked up.

The counselors are awesome because they always have exciting activities planned for us and they help us practice our Spanish. I also really appreciate how Nicole helped me make sure I was able to go to the gym every day, and offered to walk me home so I felt more safe.

Another thing I like about this camp is that sometimes we are spontaneous and we do things like go watch Spiderman in Spanish, and it’s always fun whether the activities are planned or a surprise.

I made friends and learned a lot of Spanish. I think my Spanish skills have improved a lot in only 2 weeks. I will miss everything about this experience when I go home, even the annoying fruit flies. I hope I can come back another time because I love Heredia!

My homestay mom Vicky was great. And I loved her cat!

Tico Lingo has been an awesome experience. My Spanish has DEFINITELY improved, and my homestay mom was super kind (and cooked great food, ¡Vicky!). My house had a cat who became my best friend. Whenever we came back from an adventure he would come say "hola"!

Some of the best trips were the white water rafting & the ropes course, which were fun on their own but became better with the new friends I made. Every day was a surprise because Nicole wouldn’t tell us anything. :)

People should do this camp because it is a great way to learn Spanish while also having a lot of fun. It’s a really good combination of activities and Spanish learning, and you get to practice speaking in real situations. I really enjoyed being with my homestay. Nory and her kids are very nice, and her family is really interesting. One activity I really enjoyed was rafting because it was super fun and also a good chance to speak Spanish. Heredia is super cool, and I personally love going to Tasty with my friends.

This trip has been so memorable. There are always fun activities planned and all of the staff are kind and amazing people. Everyone puts effort in for you to have an amazing time in Costa Rica. Also, the locals are some of the sweetest people you will ever meet. It just feels very loving and safe in Heredia. Making friends with everyone and walking around together is one of the best experiences. There’s so much to see and do in the city. Another thing, the homestay families are so sweet and make this trip very immersive. This is a perfect opportunity to get to know Spanish culture and the language. I’m so grateful for everyone here making a trip I’ll never forget.

This camp was great! My homestay was so awesome. I got to stay with two other girls and became great friends with them! My homestay mom was so patient with my not so great Spanish and she was always welcoming. Water rafting was so fun and reminded me of when I went with my family. In addition, zip lining was something I’ve never done before and was a great experience! The markets were far different from US markets back home and became my favorite place to shop and browse for souvenirs and gifts

On the first day I thought to myself “why would I agree to do this camp”, but by the third day I was excited for what was coming. I met the other boys on the first day of school and clicked immediately. With the other kids I laughed a ton and had an amazing time with them. During school I learned so much while having fun. In the afternoon we did fun activities and learned Spanish. Overall I definitely recommend. I learned a lot of Spanish and was able to have a really really fun time while doing it.

Others should do this camp if they want to make new friends, practice their Spanish, learn new things every day, and do very fun activities. The food is amazing, but so are the people, pretty much everything. We got to see so many animals, beautiful views and places, and how people live here in Costa Rica. My personal favorite was the white water rafting or any of the many activities we do that give you an adrenaline rush. I felt welcomed by my homestay family, the other campers, and pretty much everybody here. At first I was nervous and a bit scared to be in a new country with new people but that went away in a few days. This was one of the most fun and delighting experiences I’ve ever had. The classes were easy to understand, and the teachers were awesome - they will help you in any way you need and they are kind to everyone. You’ll do fun activities in class, and get to practice and improve your Spanish every day. ¡Pura Vida!

I loved this camp and experience so much and it breaks my heart that I have to leave already. Everyone here at Tico Lingo was absolutely incredible - the teachers, all of the students and both of our group leaders. I am just so glad I had the opportunity to meet every single person here. Not only have I had such an amazing time personally, but I have been able to make so many new friendships and connections, and I would totally do it all over again. Genuinely, this was such an amazing experience!!!
