Japan experience

This was such a great opportunity to learn more about japan’s cultural Heritage as well as making lifelong memories and friends. I never thought I could have this much fun on a trip and has been the best experience to date. All the counsellors were wonderful and kind and caring and helped with whatever you needed. 10/10 I would recommend to anyone! there is so much food that I’ve tried there that I never thought I would try anywhere else, not only this it also helped give me a really good résumé for my colleges I’m applying for as well as job offers because it provides a well balanced routine of learning and exploring

What was your funniest moment?
my funniest moment was making my friend Mason try the hottest lip plumper we found at this convenience store and watch him tear up over it. I also loved trying the weird food that you would find at the 7-Eleven gas stations and watching the reactions from my friends
Pros
  • build a great résumé for colleges and potential job offers
  • provides a out of world experience that many are lucky to have
  • lifelong memories and great opportunities

The Perfect Blend of Culture and Fun!

This trip to Japan was truly life-changing! From experiencing the vibrant energy of Shibuya Crossing to taking hands-on cooking lessons, every moment was filled with excitement and learning. One of the highlights was meeting local students in Miyagi, where I had the opportunity to engage in cultural exchange and understand the daily life of Japanese teens. Travel For Teens made it incredibly easy to immerse myself in Japan’s rich culture while still having tons of fun. The perfect mix of adventure and education. I highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Meeting the students in Miyagi was a bit nerve-racking at first because I wasn’t sure how they would react to me. But once we met, they were so welcoming! It made me realize how special and unique it was to connect with Japanese high school students and learn about their traditions firsthand.
Pros
  • Immersive cultural activities
  • Unique opportunities to connect with the locals
  • Free time to explore and discover hidden gems
Cons
  • The packed itinerary can feel overwhelming at times
  • Some activities were physically demanding, like walking long distances
  • Adjusting to Japan’s time zone takes a few days

A memorable experience

I had so much fun on the japan trip. Not only did I enjoyed the food and beautiful views, I also learned about Japanese culture. It was an amazing experience, and I’m so glad I chose to travel with TFT. I loved the local food and my favorite the part was taking pictures in yukata! Other than the yukata, I also learned how to make sushi. We experienced karaoke night which was so fun! Tokyo Disney sea was an unforgettable adventure for me because there’s no other Disney park like this. I loved the day we visited a Japanese high school, that was amazing we got to talk to local Japanese high school students. They were super nice, friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed every moment in japan, my favorite place was Harajuku, the fashion styles you find there are just absolutely so unique and amazing!

What was your funniest moment?
When I tried to wear the yukata on my own. It was a struggle because the process to put on yukata is very complicated. So once I had the yukata on, I didn’t want to take it off since it was so hard to put on.

My experience in Japan.

I went to Japan with Travel for Teens as a teenager who didn’t know what she wanted from life. I have always been interested in Japanese culture but before I went on this trip I didn’t know it would have such a huge impact on who I am right now. I have actually chosen to major in Japanese language at my university and I will be returning to Japan next year for a study abroad session. This trip with Travel for teens changed my life.

Exciting and Interesting

This was truly an amazing experience. We volunteered for the earthquake and tsunami disaster relief effort in the Iwate region, visited magical hidden shrines in the rural town of Nikko, experienced volcanic springs in the mountainous region of Hakone, and explored big cities like Tokyo and Hiroshima, as well as got a first-hand perspective of local customs and culture. The hotels were always safe and comfortable, and our tour guide, Akemi, is one of the most wonderful people I know and has vast knowledge of Japan. 10/10 would go on this trip again.

What would you improve about this program?

Setting My Soul Free

Before this trip, i was very introverted. I was the one in the back and who's voice was never heard. One of the greatest weaknesses I had was social anxiety, and I was going on a trip with a bunch of other kids my age who I thought I would never get along with at first. No one really paid much attention to me until we left, and from there I bonded with each individual teen and counselor. On that trip I completely let loose and began making friends who I am still friends with today, and this experience has definitely taught me to open my soul up to the people around me, and establish a connection with anyone I meet.

What would you improve about this program?
The only thing that others may be cautious of is staying with the group. i wandered off a lot, but could be Japanese. I also had to spend the night at an airport, waiting for my plane, alone.

Efren's Great Adventure

This experience was the best that I ever had! Before this experience; I was very shy and an introverted but after the trip I was persuaded to leave my comfort zone and explore what the world was like with my own eyes. That is something that no other program can give you. Since that day, I have been inspired to meet new people and travel the world and continue growing in the same way that Travel For Teens taught me. If anyone decides to take this trip, be prepared to try new things, and to leave a better person than before the trip.

What would you improve about this program?
The only improvement that can be done is to give us a more adjustable time frame to adapt to the tie changes.

Japan Discovery!

For my first time traveling to Asia, I could not have asked for a better experience. TFT Japan Discovery was truly an incredible experience. We got the amazing opportunity to travel to Hiroshima to listen to a speech from a survivor of the bombing. The service portion of the trip was also excellent. We helped relief victims from the Tsunami and we also visited a Japanese school! I still keep in contact with a few of the girls, even though they are overseas. My only advice for this trip would be to keep an open mind so you can enjoy Japanese culture to its fullest. The fact that it is extemely different from the United States makes traveling to Japan an excellent learning experience. Remember to bow!
