Probably the only program that shows New York City from a new (best) perspective.

I am a graduate of the BardNYC 2023 program. It was the most amazing time of my life. If you are looking for a way to experience New York City while getting a decent education and professional experience as a student, this is the place made for you.

My classmates were the most motivated and diligent people I have ever met. They were each passionate about the process and enjoyed everything the program provided. Living in Williamsburg, studying three minutes away from Times Square was just the part of the best. All the professors, without exception, were enthusiastic about their work and did everything they could to make us students comfortable and interested. The working staff was also very meticulous about their work and always helpful, even after hours.

The worst thing to say about this program is that it only lasts for one semester. If I had the opportunity, I would have done the whole 4 years with these people, maybe even more.

I would like to emphasize that every student has completed an internship. The work done by the Bard staff is simply invaluable. Each student had the opportunity to maximize their resume, and LinkedIn page and participate in mock interviews. One-on-one meetings were held with everyone and each found an internship placement tailored to their preferences.

In conclusion: this program was so good that few people would be able to believe me. Because that's not usually the case for everything to be practically flawless. But for those who are truly hungry for knowledge and professional experience, this was it.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Don't be lazy, be as active as you can. 4 months will go by too fast. Make sure you do everything you can. Your studies should be as much a priority as your internship. Don't forget to relax and explore the city.
Pros
  • Intensive classes in subjects of interest
  • A live introduction to New York City & And making the best international friends
  • Very proactive staff who always helped with all problems and gave really good advices
Cons
  • The program ended quickly
  • You'll get attached to people and it will be painful to leave
  • The next few months after graduation, you'll still be in Williamsburg in your heart

Great Network!

I went to Bard Early High School Manhattan, and spent my last semester of college at BardNYC. This program offered a transition time after living on campus while still being enrolled and beginning to work (through the internship that's part of the BardNYC program). The internship at the New York Botanical Garden introduced me to children's education, and while it was not paid, I was offered an opportunity to work as a part-time staff member upon the completion of the internship.

The core course I was enrolled in, taught by Micheal Cohen, brought the class on field trips around sites of social importance in NYC, and I continue to think and write about topics we discussed in class.

The building itself is brand new and is situated a couple blocks from the L train, which provide easy access to midtown Manhattan. Even though I didn't live in the dormitory, I felt like part of the community thanks to the cohort groupchat and multiple social events such as dinners and the end of semester party, which facilitated friendships with my wonderfully international peers. There is so much in New York City to create lasting bonds with the interesting, intelligent BardNYC community.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Use this as an opportunity to push the limits of your comfort zone! BardNYC is a great opportunity to develop your social and professional network if you keep your goals in mind.
Pros
  • Kind Peer Counselor and staff
  • Fun peers
  • Lined me up for a job
Cons
  • Williamsburg is an expensive neighborhood
